Today’s Covid-19 Update for Thursday August 6, 2020

Roseau County has 48 Positive Cases; with 1 new cases reported today; 6 ACTIVE Cases; 42 having recovered (out of isolation).

The World Health Organization says that a 14-day positive test rate of below 5 percent is the key to keeping businesses open.

Thursday’s update from the MDH includes 867 new cases of the coronavirus, six of which have been removed for an official count of 861. Those positive cases are the result of 14,940 diagnostic tests, creating a daily test positivity rate of 5.76%.

Minnesota’s test positivity rate over a 7-day rolling average, based on MDH data, as of Thursday, is 5.06%.

“If you go above 5 percent it indicates that you may be heading back into a phase of more rapid spread of the disease,” said MDH Commissioner Jan Malcolm.

Of the seven new death reported, all of the victims were at least 60 years old.

The number of patients with COVID-19 in Minnesota hospitals increased from 305 Wednesday to 319 Thursday, including 153 patients in the ICU.

Statewide:

  • Tests: 1,105,094 (up from 1,090,303)
  • Positive cases: 58,640 (up from 57,779)
  • Deaths: 1,636 (up from 1,629)
  • Currently hospitalized: 319 (up from 305)
  • Patients in intensive care: 153 (up from 152)
  • Patients no longer requiring isolation: 51,604 (up from 51,223)
