Roseau County has 501 Positive Cases; with 31  new cases reported today; 127 ACTIVE Cases; 374 having recovered (out of isolation) and 1 death.

There were 5,454 new cases of COVID-19 reported Thursday, shattering the record of 3,946 set just one day ago. Of the new cases, 12 were removed for an official count of 5,442.

Of the 36 more deaths, 23 were residents of long-term care facilities. Long-term care deaths have accounted for 1,800 of the state’s 2,591 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. It should also be noted that two people in their 40s, from Anoka and Dakota counties, respectively, were part of the new deaths reported Friday.

The previous record for deaths reported in a single day was 35, reached May 28 and Oct. 21.

The MDH reported 44,749 diagnostic PCR tests and an additional 1,020 antigen tests for a total of 45,769 completed tests.

Those tests were from 22,212 people tested. People are often tested multiple times, so the more accurate reading for test positivity rate is based on the total number of people tested, which today’s report is at 24.55%.

The positivity rate reported Friday, when total cases is divided by total tests, is 11.91%. Health experts say positivity rates need to be below the 5% mark to control the spread of the virus.
