A ROSEAU  5TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM HAS WON A PACESETTER REGION CHAMPIONSHIP FOR A SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR,  TO ADVANCE TO A JUNE STATE TOURNAMENT IN MAPLE GROVE.   DAVID BOROWICZ COACHES THAT YOUTH BASKETBALL TEAM.

ASSINABOINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SHUT OUT MINOT STATE  1-0 YESTERDAY TO WIN THE  DIVISION TWO  A.C.H.A. HOCKEY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. NORTH DAKOTA STATE ALSO PLAYED IN THAT CLUB HOCKEY NATIONAL TOURNAMENT IN TEXAS;  THE BISON SEASON ENDED WITH A  5-2 FRIDAY LOSS TO BISHOPS UNIVERSITY. ROSEAU’S MARY PRZEKWAS ASSISTED ON BOTH NDSU GOALS, AND FORMER BRIDGET SLATER MADE 48 SAVES. THE BISON HAD EARLIER BEATEN LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY AND ADRIAN COLLEGE, WITH SLATER IN GOAL, AND PREZEKWAS SCORING THREE TIMES.

DEFENDING CHAMP MINNESOTA/DULUTH,  DENVER,  PROVIDENCE AND MASSACHUSETTS WILL PLAY IN THE NCAA HOCKEY FROZEN FOUR AFTER WEEKEND WINS.

THE CANADIAN WOMEN’S HOCKEY LEAGUE WILL CEASE OPERATIONS AFTER TWELVE SEASONS.  THAT LEAGUE HAS FOUR TEAMS IN CANADA AND TWO IN CHINA. THAT LEAVES THE NATIONAL WOMEN’S HOCKEY LEAGUE AS THE ONLY PROFESSIONAL WOMENS HOCKEY LEAGUE IN NORTH AMERICA.

THE SPRING BALL SEASON IS SCHEDULED TO START THIS WEEK,  BUT THE BASEBALL RAMS GAME AT  BADGER/GREENBUSH/MIDDLE RIVER  TOMORROW HAS BEEN POSTPONED;  AS HAS A FRIDAY GAME AGAINST THE NORTHERN FREEZE. WARROAD AND ROSEAU SOFTBALL FIRST GAMES ARE NEXT WEEK.

ROSEAU’S TANNER OKESON,  A DEFENSEMAN AT CONCORDIA COLLEGE,  HAS BEEN NAMED TO THE  ALL-MIAC CONFERENCE HOCKEY TEAM FOR A SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR.

TENNIS COACHES TIM AND TOM WYNNE OF GRAND FORKS WILL BE INDUCTED IN THE U.S.T.A. NORTHERN SECTION HALL OF FAME NEXT MONDAY IN MINNEAPOLIS.    THEIR OLDER BROTHER IS JOHN WYNNE OF WANNASKA.

THE ALL-NORTHERN GALAXY CONFERENCE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM INCLUDES MACI BAKKEN OF GRYGLA-GOODRIDGE AND KEYLEE DAHL OF THE NORTHERN FREEZE.
