A memorial service for Paul Gustav Wallestad will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 2:30pm at the Roseau Community Church in Roseau, Minnesota.  Paul Gustav Wallestad, son of Herman and Hildur (Grahn) Wallestad, was born on September 22, 1942, in Roseau, Minnesota.  He went home to Jesus at age 78, at Westminister Manor in Bradenton, Florida, on July 14, 2021.

Paul served in the United States Navy from 1960-1963.  He married the love of his life Ruth M. Robinson on May 18, 1962.  They raised their children in Pencer, Minnesota, and then later in Karlstad, Minnesota.  Paul spent his working years owning Northern Glass & Construction Company. Paul and Ruth enjoyed years traveling in their RV and then eventually moving to Rancho Maranatha in Mexico, where they served the Lord doing whatever was needed.  He was known as Pablo in Mexico and loved by all.  In Mexico, he was always excited to hear if anyone had given their heart to the Lord.  He will be forever remembered as a man of God with a great sense of humor who was a servant willing to help others with whatever was needed.  Parkinson Disease slowly took his life since 2008 and they moved to Bradenton, Florida in 2009, where Ruth faithfully cared for him.

Fishing, hunting, and going to the cabin at Lake of the Woods were some of Paul’s favorite things to do.  He really enjoyed being with people and playing cards, other games, and pranks.  He lived his life serving the Lord and encouraging those around him to do the same.

Paul is survived by his wife Ruth Wallestad; daughter Robin Martin (Steve); sons Rory Wallestad (Jessica), Shawn Wallestad (Catalina); raised niece Sherrie Veer (Daryn); grandchildren Ruth Ann Watkins, Jennifer Harris (Arnie), Zachariah Watkins (Amanda), Melissa Alcozer, Jackie Wallestad, Travis Dagen, Sonja Johnson (Josh), and Aaron Wallestad; nieces Hannah Veer, Carrie Horwath (Will), Rebecca Veer, Candi Rekedal (Spencer), Diana Opseth (Josh), Molly Veer, Kaylynn Veer, and nephew Joshua Veer; 15 great grandchildren; siblings Anne Erickson (Farrell), Austin Wallestad (Paula), and Ida Modahl (Terry); sisters-in-law Linda Espe (Duane), Marlys Olson (Erling), and Marsha Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Hildur Wallestad;  brothers Arvid Wallestad and David Wallestad;  sister Nellie Sealy; in laws Alfred and Jean Haugtvedt and sister-in-law Lila.
