THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  APPROVED A PRELIMINARY LEVY PER STATE MANDATE.     SCHOOLS, CITIES AND COUNTIES ARE REQUIRED TO APPROVE A PRELIMINARY LEVY AND BUDGET BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER. THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD APPROVED THE MAXIMUM  ALLOWABLE LEVY OF JUST UNDER  THREE-POINT-THREE MILLION DOLLARS  ( $ 3,280,491 ).  THE CURRENT YEAR LEVY IS JUST OVER  TWO-POINT-SIX MILLION  ( $ 2,622,673 ) SO THE PROPOSED INCREASE WOULD BE ABOUT TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT.

WORLD TEACHERS DAY IS COMING UP AND THE PERSONAL FINANCE WEBSITE  WalletHub HAS RELEASED A REPORT ON THE BEST AND WORST STATES FOR TEACHERS. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR WENDY  OLSON OF BADGER IS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT THREE AT SKIPPY  FINN’S IN BADGER,  FOLLOWING MINNESOTA  COVID-19 GUIDELINES. WENDY  OLSON WAS  60.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD YESTERDAY APPROVED PURCHASE OF FORTY ACRES OF LAND IN ENSTROM TOWNSHIP,  ADJACENT TO THE COUNTY’S DEMOLITION LANDFILL  SOUTHEAST OF SALOL. THAT LAND WAS ACQUIRED AS A FUTURE LANDFILL SITE. THE PURCHASE PRICE IS ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS.

MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ AND  MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY COMMISSIONER LAURA BISHOP HAVE APPOINTED FIFTEEN PEOPLE TO THE GOVERNOR’S  ADVISORY COUNCIL ON CLIMATE CHANGE. AMONG THOSE FIFTEEN IS MIKE BIRKELAND OF GRAND RAPIDS,  WHO IS VICE PRESIDENT OF THE MINNESOTA FOREST INDUSTRIES AND TIMBER PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION.
