THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTED YESTERDAY TO MOVE FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL TO NEXT SPRING,  DUE TO CORONAVIRUS CONCERNS.IN ROSEAU,  GIRLS TENNIS,  CROSS COUNTRY AND SWIMMING  WILL START AS SCHEDULED AUGUST 17TH,  BUT THEIR SEASONS WILL BE SHORTENED ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR IVAN HIRST. ROSEAU SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME IS VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE BOARD.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  YESTERDAY,  APPROVED A TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLAR A MONTH CONTRACT WITH PENNINGTON COUNTY FOR HIGHWAY ENGINEERING SERVICES. STATE AID DOLLARS ARE TIED TO A COUNTY HAVING A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER. LONGTIME ROSEAU COUNTY HIGHWAY ENGINEER BRIAN KETRING LEFT THAT POSITION LAST MONTH FOR A JOB WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.

THE MINNESOTA STATE PATROL IS INVESTIGATING A FATAL CRASH YESTERDAY AFTERNOON ON HIGHWAY 10 NEAR NEW YORK MILLS, WHERE AN EASTBOUND  BMW ROLLED MULTIPLE TIMES.  TWO 21 YEAR OLD MEN FROM MOORHEAD WERE IN THE CAR.

PRIVATE SERVICES FOR AUDREY DAHL OF ST PAUL ARE FRIDAY IN ST PAUL.   AUDREY  BLUMER  DAHL WAS A BADGER HIGH SCHOOL CLASS VALEDICTORIAN IN THE LATE 1940’S. SHE WAS  88.

A SERVICE HONORING THE LIFE OF BRANDON JOHNSON OF ROSEAU IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT ONE  AT MOE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU.  A FIFTY PERCENT STATE CAPACITY GUIDELINE WILL BE FOLLOWED AND WITH FACE COVERINGS FOR THOSE ATTENDING.  A VIDEO WILL BE UPLOADED AFTER THE SERVICE. BRANDON  JOHNSON WAS  28.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  THIS WEEK,  SAID THANKS BUT NO THANKS TO AN OFFER BY THE ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT TO DONATE THREE HOUSES TO THE CITY. THE CITY WOULD HAVE HAD TO MOVE THOSE HOUSES TO VACANT LOTS. COUNCIL MEMBERS SAID THEY WEREN’T  INTERESTED IN GOING INTO THE HOUSE MOVING BUSINESS.

THE COUNCIL ALSO REJECTED A ROSEAU ROYALS REQUEST FOR  BEER SALES AND CONCESSIONS AT THIS WEEKEND’S BASEBALL TOURNAMENT.

A ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT COMMITTEE MEETS TODAY TO CONSIDER PROTOCOLS FOR A SEPTEMBER IN-PERSON  RETURN TO SCHOOL. BADGER SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT KEVIN RICKE SAYS HE’S HOPING IN PERSON LEARNING REMAINS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR … GOVERNOR TIM WALZ’  SAFE RETURN TO SCHOOL PLAN IS BASED ON COVID CASES PER TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE IN COUNTIES ACROSS THE STATE.

A FARMERS TO FAMILIES FOOD BOX PICKUP IS TOMORROW MORNING  (Ten to Eleven A.M.)  AT THE RAMS SPORTS CENTER IN ROSEAU; AND TOMORROW AFTERNOON  (Noon to One P.M.)  AT THE WARROAD HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT. THE NORTH COUNTRY FOOD BANK IS PARTNERING WITH THE ROSEAU AREA FOOD SHELF AND WARROAD FOOD PANTRY FOR THAT FROZEN FOOD GIVEAWAY.

THE ROSEAU ROYALS ARE HOSTING A REGIONAL SENIOR AMATEUR BASEBALL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT AT GILBERTSON FIELD … NATHAN VOLL MANAGES THE ROYALS,  WHO ARE PLAYING BASEBALL THIS SUMMER AFTER A TWO YEAR HIATUS.
