THE ROSEAU SCHOOL REMAINS IN IT’S CURRENT LEARNING MODEL,  WITH ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN SCHOOL; AND JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS IN A HYBRID MODE,  MEANING THEY’RE IN SCHOOL TWO DAYS A WEEK. SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME SAYS,  DESPITE THE SPIKE IN CASES ACROSS THE COUNTY,  THE SCHOOL REMAINS A SAFE ENVIRONMENT … THE ROSEAU SCHOOL HAS PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES THIS WEEK;  THEY’LL BE DONE IN A VIRTUAL FORMAT.

THE WARROAD SCHOOL STARTS DISTANCE LEARNING FOR GRADES  K-12 TODAY,   BECAUSE AT LEAST THIRTY STAFF MEMBERS ARE OUT;  EITHER WITH CORONAVIRUS OR IN QUARANTINE.    THEY’RE PLANNING A NOVEMBER  30TH RETURN TO SCHOOL IN WARROAD,  WHERE THERE HAS APPARENTLY BEEN SOME  IN-SCHOOL TRANSMISSION OF THE VIRUS. AT GREENBUSH-MIDDLE RIVER,  SUPERINTENDENT LARRY GUGGISBERG SAYS  “THE ISSUE CONTINUES TO BE STAFFING”;  THAT QUARANTINES ARE REDUCING THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SUBSTITUTES.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR VIOLET  DIX  IS THIS MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT THE GRACETON CEMETERY IN GRACETON,  MINNESOTA. VIOLET DIX WAS  82.

TOMORROW IS VETERANS DAY. ONE OF ROSEAU COUNTY’S  VETS IS AARON OLSON,  WHO CHOSE SERVICE IN THE NATIONAL GUARD,  AND WHO HAD A TOUR OF DUTY IN IRAQ ….

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK,   HEARD THAT A ONE MILLION DOLLAR FINANCING GAP REMAINS TO CONSTRUCT A NEW APARTMENT BUILDING IN ROSEAU. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR  TODD PETERSON SAID THE  ELEVEN-01 APARTMENT PROJECT WON’T MOVE FORWARD WITH PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTMENT; AND THAT A LOCAL MATCH FOR A MINNESOTA HOUSING FINANCE AGENCY GRANT WOULD COST THE CITY ABOUT 250 THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE CITY IS HOPING  M.H.F.A.  WOULD COUNT A TAX EXEMPTION AS PART OF THAT MATCH.

ROSEAU COUNTY HAS JUST OVER TWO MILLION  “CARES”  ACT DOLLARS FOR CORONAVIRUS RELIEF IN THE COUNTY, BUT MUST SPEND THAT FEDERAL MONEY THIS MONTH OR IT REVERTS TO THE STATE OF MINNESOTA.

A  “CARES”  ACT COMMITTEE APPROVED APPROXIMATELY A THIRD OF THAT MONEY GOING TO LOCAL BUSINESSES AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC;  AND THE COUNTY WILL INTERNALIZE ANOTHER MILLION DOLLARS IN ORDER TO KEEP IT LOCALLY.

A COVID-19 SURGE CONTINUES IN ROSEAU COUNTY,  WHERE CONFIRMED CASES HAVE TRIPLED SINCE THE FIRST OF OCTOBER. ROSEAU COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HAS STARTED AN  “IT’S UP TO ME”  CAMPAIGN,  URGING RESIDENTS TO  OBSERVE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS TO SLOW THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS … ROSEAU COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGER SUE GRAFSTROM. REPUBLICAN STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAN FABIAN OF ROSEAU HAS AGREED TO SERVE AS ONE OF THE SPOKESPEOPLE FOR THAT COVID CAMPAIGN.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR THEODORE SHIMPA OF ROSEAU IS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT ONE  AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CEMETERY IN GREENBUSH.  VISITATION IS TOMORROW EVENING  (5-8 PM)  AT COLLINS FUNERAL CHAPEL IN GREENBUSH,  FOLLOWING MINNESOTA COVID-19 GUIDELINES. TEDDY  SHIMPA WAS  75.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR TOM FUGLEBERG OF ROSEAU IS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT ONE  AT MOE-ROSE CEMETERY,  WEST OF ROSEAU.  A PUBLIC VISITATION IS THURSDAY EVENING  (5-7 PM)  AT ROSE FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH;  BOTH FOLLOWING MINNESOTA GUIDELINES. TOM FUGLEBERG WAS  67.

A FREE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DAY MEAL IS NOVEMBER  26TH  (11-1)  AT UNITED FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF GREENBUSH. THERE IS LIMITED DINE-IN,  TAKEOUT AND DELIVERY.
