THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  THIS WEEK,   APPROVED LIMITED ACCESS AT THE COURTHOUSE STARTING NEXT TUESDAY  (November 17). THE COURTHOUSE WILL BE LOCKED,  AS WILL THE SOCIAL SERVICES AND HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT BUILDINGS; BUT WILL BE OPEN BY APPOINTMENT.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR THEODORE  SHIMPA OF ROSEAU IS THIS AFTERNOON AT ONE  AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CEMETERY IN GREENBUSH.   A   REMEMBRANCE SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE. TEDDY  SHIMPA  WAS  75.

A PUBLIC VISITATION FOR TOM FUGLEBERG OF ROSEAU IS THIS EVENING  (5-7 PM)  AT ROSE FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH.   A GRAVESIDE SERVICE IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT ONE AT THE MOE-ROSE CEMETERY.  BOTH FOLLOW MINNESOTA COVID GUIDELINES. TOM  FUGLEBERG WAS  67.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED A PLAN REVIEW FOR THE PROPOSED  ELEVEN-01 APARTMENT PROJECT AT OAK CREST WEST. IT IS LIKELY A CITY CONTRIBUTION WILL BE NECESSARY TO GET THE PROJECT BUILT,  AND ROSEAU MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI SAYS IT’S CRITICALLY NEEDED … THE BUILDING WOULD BE THREE STORIES AND  37 UNITS LOCATED NEAR HIGHWAY  89.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS THIS MORNING IN SPECIAL SESSION,  TO CANVASS BALLOTS FROM LAST WEEK’S ELECTION.   INCUMBENTS MICKY HULST,  THOR DIDRIKSON AND VONDA DANIELSON WERE RE-ELECTED TO FOUR YEAR TERMS.

A PUBLIC GRAVESIDE SERVICE, WITH MILITARY HONORS,  FOR JOHN WALSH OF BADGER IS MONDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO AT ST MARY’S CEMETERY IN BADGER.   A PUBLIC VISITATION IS SUNDAY EVENING  (5-7 PM)  AT ST MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN BADGER. JOHN WALSH WAS  90.

70 YEAR OLD RICHARD KLEINSCHMIDT OF SAUK CENTRE WAS KILLED IN A TWO VEHICLE CRASH EARLY YESTERDAY  MORNING  (JUST AFTER SIX A.M.)  ON HIGHWAY 71 NEAR LONG PRAIRIE. KLEINSCHMIDT APPARENTLY LOST CONTROL ON A SNOWY AND ICY ROAD AND COLLIDED HEAD-ON WITH  A PICKUP DRIVEN BY 30 YEAR OLD AARON THOMAS OF LONG PRAIRIE.     THOMAS SUFFERED NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES.

ANOTHER FATAL CRASH HAPPENED LAST NIGHT  (JUST AFTER EIGHT P.M.) ON HIGHWAY  75 NEAR GEORGETOWN IN CLAY COUNTY.   TWO VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED,  AND THE FATALITY INVOLVED A PERSON NOT WEARING A SEATBELT.

ALLIED CONCERT SERVICES IS POSTPONING ALL THEIR WINTER AND SPRING TOURS,  WITH A GOAL OF RE-STARTING THOSE CONCERT TOURS IN THE FALL OF  2021. ALLIED PROVIDES ENTERTAINMENT FOR ROSEAU’S NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SERIES,  WHICH HAD ALREADY CANCELLED TWO SHOWS LAST SPRING AND TWO MORE THIS FALL.

THE BADGER BAPTIST CHURCH IS OFFERING A FOURTH ANNUAL FREE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER ON THE 26TH OF NOVEMBER. BECAUSE OF COVID RESTRICTIONS, THE MEAL IS TAKEOUT OR DELIVERY ONLY.  CALL THE CHURCH  (528-4555) BY THE 21ST OF NOVEMBER TO RESERVE MEALS.
