THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  APPROVED SENDING THE 7TH GRADE CLASS TO THE WOLF RIDGE ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER  (AT FINLAND, MINNESOTA)  FOR FIVE DAYS NEXT MARCH.

THE THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLAR COST WOULD BE FUNDED BY GRANT DOLLARS,  RE-ALLOCATED FROM LIBRARY STAFFING.

SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME SAID THERE WOULD BE NO STAFFING REDUCTIONS;  THAT THAT SALARY LINE ITEM WOULD COME FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT GENERAL FUND.

 

THE RED RIVER FARM NETWORK SAYS A LETTER HAS BEEN SENT TO U.S. AGRICULTURE SECRETARY SONNY PERDUE ASKING  FOR  “THE FULLEST APPROPRIATE DISASTER ASSISTANCE”.

THE LETTER WAS SIGNED BY FARMERS IN THE NORTHERN TIER STATES,  AND BY THE NATIONAL FARMERS UNION.

 

AN ANNUAL HUNTERS MEAL IS NOVEMBER 9TH AT BETHESDA LUTHERAN CHURCH AT SKIME.

 

A TRAVELING EXHIBIT ON THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS IN MINNESOTA IS AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY MUSEUM THROUGH THIS WEEK.

MINNESOTA  D.N.R. FORESTRY HAS STRUGGLED WITH ROAD REPAIRS THIS FALL,  DUE TO RECORD RAINFALL IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER.

PORTIONS OF BLACK’S WINNER ROAD AND THE TANGES FOREST ROAD WERE CLOSED LAST WEEKEND FOSR REPAIRS.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  EARLIER THIS MONTH,  DESIGNATED THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER AS THE POLLING PLACE FOR IT’S  2020 ELECTIONS.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE FOR COLLEEN SWENSON OF WINDOM, MINNESOTA  (AND FORMERLY OF SALOL)  IS THIS MORNING AT ELEVEN AT THE ROSEAU FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH.    BURIAL IS AT NORLAND CEMETERY AT SALOL.

COLLEEN SWENSON WAS  67.

 

AN OFFICIAL GROUNDBREAKING FOR A NEW HAMPTON INN IN WARROAD  WAS YESTERDAY.

THE HILTON PROPERTY IS LOCATED ALONG THE WARROAD RIVER,  WITH AN OPENING SCHEDULED FOR NEXT FALL.

PROJECT FOUNDERS ARE DREW PARSLEY OF WARROAD AND JON WAIBEL OF BAUDETTE.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  YESTERDAY,  APPROVED A THREE YEAR LABOR AGREEMENT WITH IT’S  HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND NON-UNION EMPLOYEES,  WHICH CALLS FOR AN APPROXIMATE  SEVEN-AND-A-HALF PERCENT COST OF LIVING INCREASE OVER THREE YEARS.

THE BOARD HAD EARLIER APPROVED A THREE YEAR CONTRACT WITH THE TEAMSTERS UNION,  WHICH REPRESENTS DEPUTIES AND JAIL STAFF.

 

A SAFE SCHOOLS SUPPLEMENTAL AID APPROPRIATION WILL BRING  237 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN HOUSE DISTRICT 1A,  WHICH IS REPRESENTED BY REPUBLICAN DAN FABIAN.

THAT’S PART OF THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS STATEWIDE,  DISTRIBUTED ON A      PER-PUPIL BASIS.
