THIS IS MINNESOTA MANUFACTURING WEEK,  AS PROCLAIMED BY GOVERNOR TIM WALZ.

THERE ARE MORE THAN EIGHTY-FOUR HUNDRED MANUFACTURERS IN THE STATE.

ROSEAU COUNTY IS HOME TO SEVERAL OF THE LARGER MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN MINNESOTA,  INCLUDING POLARIS INDUSTRIES IN ROSEAU;  MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS IN WARROAD;   AND CENTRAL BOILER OF GREENBUSH.

 

TODAY IS NATIONAL BIKE OR WALK TO SCHOOL DAY.

DORIAN GRILLEY,  WITH THE BIKE ALLIANCE OF MINNESOTA,  SAYS BIKING OR WALKING TO SCHOOL CAN HELP KIDS’  PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH.

NEARLY HALF OF STUDENTS WALKED TO SCHOOL AS RECENTLY AS FIFTY YEARS AGO;  THAT FIGURE IS NOW  THIRTEEN PERCENT OF STUDENTS IN MINNESOTA.

 

A TRAVELING EXHIBIT CALLED THE CENTURY OF CIVIC ENGAGEMENT:  LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS MINNESOTA  OPENED YESTERDAY AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY MUSEUM.

THAT EXHIBIT IS AT THE MUSEUM THROUGH OCTOBER  25TH.

 

WARROAD SUMMER THEATRE’S  DINNER THEATRE  PRODUCTION OF JEFF DANIELS’  “ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT”  OPENS THIS EVENING AT SEVEN CLANS CASINO IN WARROAD.

THE PLAY WILL ALSO BE PERFORMED LATER THIS MONTH  (October 23-26)  AT ROCK HARBOR LODGE NORTH OF ROOSEVELT.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED RENEWAL OF A HEALTH INSURANCE AGREEMENT WITH THE NORTHWEST SERVICE COOPERATIVE.   HEALTH INSURANCE COSTS FOR THE COUNTY WILL GO UP BY NINE-POINT-NINE PERCENT NEXT YEAR.

 

A SECOND ANNUAL OCTOBER FESTIVAL IS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AT ALLISON PARK IN WARROAD.

WARROAD’S  ROBOTICS TEAM WILL HOST A BACKYARD BARBEQUE SATURDAY.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  LAST MONTH,  APPROVED AN INCREASE IN VOLLEYBALL OFFICIATING FEES FOR THIS YEAR.

FOR JUNIOR HIGH AND  “C”  TEAM MATCHES,  THE FEE GOES FROM  $ 22.56 TO  TWENTY-SIX DOLLARS.

 

THE  8TH ANNUAL ROSEAU ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY IS SUNDAY AFTERNOON  (2 PM)  AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE.

THIS YEAR’S INDUCTEES INCLUDE  U.S. OLYMPIC HOCKEY PLAYERS GARY ROSS AND ROBBY HARRIS;  LONGTIME RAMS’  WRESTLING COACH  JEFF  “BRO” OLSEN;  FORMER SOFTBALL AND FOOTBALL COACH JEFF OLSON;  FORMER WISCONSIN BADGER TODD HEDLUND;  AND FORMER U.N.D. HOCKEY CAPTAIN MARY LOKEN CANKAR.

THE 1999 BOYS STATE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM WILL ALSO BE INDUCTED.
