HENRY TWETEN OF EAST GRAND FORKS DIED SUNDAY DUE TO COMPLICATIONS FROM COVID-19. HE WAS 97.
HENRY TWETEN AND MARLIN OBIE WERE CO-OWNERS OF THE FIRST RADIO STATION IN ROSEAU COUNTY, KRWB-AM, WHICH WENT ON THE AIR IN THE EARLY 1960’S.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR DONNA ANDERSON OF GREENBUSH, FOLLOWING MINNESOTA COVID GUIDELINES, IS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT ONE AT THE UNITED FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GREENBUSH. VISITATION IS TWO HOURS PRIOR.
DONNA ANDERSON WAS 86.

 

THE TRI-COUNTY AND GREENBUSH-MIDDLE RIVER ONE-ACT PLAYS HAVE ADVANCED TO THE SECTION 8A CONTEST, AFTER FINISHING FIRST AND SECOND AT THE SUBDISTRICT COMPETITION.

COVID NUMBERS IN THE COUNTY FOR THE PAST MONTH ARE THE LOWEST THEY’VE BEEN SINCE THE MIDDLE OF LAST SUMMER.

 

THE BEMIDJI-BASED NORTHWEST JUVENILE CENTER HAD 460 ADMISSIONS LAST YEAR, WITH THE FEWEST NUMBER OF ADMISSIONS IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER AT THE HEIGHT OF THE COVID PANDEMIC.
ROSEAU COUNTY PLACED 18 KIDS AT THE JUVENILE CENTER IN 2020, FOR A TOTAL OF 987 DAYS.
EIGHT OF THOSE KIDS WERE AGED FIFTEEN AND YOUNGER.
THERE WERE 23 SATELLITE HOME ADMISSIONS LAST YEAR ACROSS THE NORTHWEST REGION, WITH FOUR OF THOSE IN ROSEAU COUNTY.
ROSEAU COUNTY IS A PART-OWNER OF THE NORTHWEST JUVENILE CENTER.

 

THE CITY OF ROSEAU OPERATIONS COMMITTEE MET LAST WEEK TO TALK ABOUT MOTORIZED VEHICLES ON CITY TRAILS AND THE OAK CREST GOLF COURSE.
A WORKING GROUP PLANS TO OFFER EDUCATION AND SIGNAGE ON THE PEDESTRIAN TRAILS, WHERE SNOWMOBILES AND A-T-V’S ARE NOT ALLOWED.
THERE IS A NEARLY TWO MILE DESIGNATED SNOWMOBILE TRAIL THROUGH THE CITY OF ROSEAU.

 

THE NORTHWEST REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION HAS RELEASED IT’S ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2020.
CAM FANFULIK, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SAYS COVID-19 HAD AN IMPACT ON OPERATIONS, BUT THERE WERE SUCCESSES DESPITE THE PANDEMIC.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, LAST WEEK, APPROVED DITCH LEVIES AND BUDGETS FOR 2021. THE LARGEST LEVIES ARE ON COUNTY DITCHES 9 AND 69.

 

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA EXTENSION HAS THE FIRST OF IT’S VIRTUAL BEEF QUALITY ASSURANCE TRAINING SESSIONS TOMORROW EVENING.
THOSE SESSIONS ARE HOSTED BY THE MINNESOTA BEEF COUNCIL.

 

MATT AND MIRANDA GREEN OF GREENBUSH ARE REPRESENTING ROSEAU COUNTY IN THIS YEAR’S EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA;
AND MATT AND JACKIE PRZEKWAS OF LANCASTER REPRESENT KITTSON COUNTY.
JODY HORNTVEDT OF BAUDETTE, WITH UNIVERSITY of MINNESOTA EXTENSION, FACILITATES THAT PROGRAM;
SHE SAYS INTEREST IN THE REGION VARIES.

 

SOME MINNESOTA LEGISLATORS ARE PURSUING BILLS WHICH WOULD ENACT A VOTER I-D LAW IN THE STATE,
WHILE OTHERS ARE ATTEMPTING TO ENHANCE THE ABSENTEE VOTING OPTION.
MICHELLE WITTY, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS IN MINNESOTA, SAYS EXPANDING VOTING ACCESS IS NOT A PARTISAN ISSUE.
ROSEAU COUNTY HAD RECORD VOTER TURNOUT LAST NOVEMBER, WITH ALL BUT ONE TOWNSHIP VOTING BY MAIL.
