THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HELD IT’S STATE-REQUIRED  BUDGET MEETING LAST NIGHT,  WITH JUST ONE MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE.

THE COUNTY BOARD IS PROPOSING A THREE PERCENT PROPERTY TAX LEVY INCREASE FOR  2020.

THE COMMISSIONERS WILL APPROVE NEXT YEAR’S LEVY AND BUDGET AT AN END OF THE YEAR MEETING DECEMBER  26TH.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  THIS WEEK,  PASSED A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A TEN TON ROUTE FROM ROSEAU TO HIGHWAY TWO.

THE COUNCIL RECOMMENDS THAT COUNTY ROADS FROM GRYGLA TO GULLY BE TURNED OVER TO THE STATE OF MINNESOTA AND BECOME A STATE HIGHWAY.

MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI SAYS THE CITY WILL NEED SUPPORT FROM MARSHALL,  PENNINGTON AND POLK COUNTIES.

 

THE PERSONAL FINANCE WEBSITE  WalletHub  SAYS MINNESOTA IS THE MOST CHARITABLE STATE IN THE NATION,  USING CRITERIA LIKE VOLUNTEER HOURS PER CAPITA,  AND THE PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULATION WHO DONATED TIME OR MONEY.

UTAH,  MARYLAND,  OREGON AND OHIO ROUND OUT THE TOP FIVE;    NEW MEXICO AND ARIZONA ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ANNETTE BERGSNEV OF GREENBUSH IS TOMORROW MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT OILAND LUTHERAN CHURCH IN RURAL GREENBUSH.

ANNETTE BERGSNEV WAS  80.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR KENNETH PENAS OF ROSEAU IS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT ONE  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

KENNETH  PENAS  WAS  82.

 

A ‘WIC’  CLINIC IS TODAY AT THE WARROAD AREA COMMUNITY CENTER,  AND TOMORROW AT THE RED LAKE FALLS COMMUNITY CENTER.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY TRAILBLAZERS HAVE BEEN HAMPERED IN TRAIL GROOMING EFFORTS THIS WINTER BY FALL FLOODING AND BY A LACK OF SNOW AND COLD WEATHER.

 

THE GREENBUSH/BADGER LIONS CLUB HAS IT’S  35TH ANNUAL FUN NIGHT SUPPER  FRIDAY  (6-8 PM)  AT THE GREENBUSH FIRE HALL.

 

LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER’S PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT HAS A FLU VACCINE CLINIC TOMORROW AFTERNOON  ( 3:15 – 6  P.M. )  AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL COMMONS.

 

FARMERS IN STATES WITH A HEMP PILOT PROGRAM CAN PARTICIPATE IN  U.S.D.A.  CONSERVATION PROGRAMS,  ACCORDING TO THE RED RIVER FARM NETWORK.

BILL NORTHEY,  WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE,  SAYS  “MANY HEMP PRODUCERS COULD BUY NON-INSURED CROP DISASTER ASSISTANCE”.

MINNESOTA’S  AGRICULTURAL UTILIZATION RESEARCH INSTITUTE  (OR,  AURI)  HAS BEEN WORKING ON HEMP AS A CASH CROP.

 

LAST SUMMER PRODUCED A LARGE NUMBER OF BIG WALLEYES FROM LAKE OF THE WOODS,

IN PART DUE TO STRONG YEAR CLASSES OVER THE PAST DECADE.

BRETT NELSON IS A LARGE LAKE SPECIALIST AT  D.N.R.  FISHERIES IN BAUDETTE;   HE SAYS HE’S PART OF CONVERSATIONS WITH  D.N.R.  COLLEAGUES AROUND THE STATE.
