U.S. CONGRESSMAN BENNIE THOMPSON OF MISSISSIPPI IS IN ROSEAU THIS WEEK,

MEETING WITH ROSEAU, LANCASTER AND MANITOBA OFFICIALS ON THE CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION DECISION LAST YEAR TO REDUCE HOURS AT TWO  U.S.  PORTS OF ENTRY WITH CANADA.

THOMPSON IS CHAIR OF THE HOMELAND SECURITY COMMITTEE IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES;  THAT COMMITTEE OVERSEES CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS IN SPECIAL SESSION TOMORROW  (Noon).

AMONG OTHER BUSINESS,  THEY’RE EXPECTED TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATIONS OF TWO PARAPROFESSIONALS;

AND PROCEED WITH HIRING AN INTERIM DEAN OF STUDENTS,  FOR ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL KELSEY JOHNSON’S LEAVE THIS WINTER.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR SANDRA ERICKSON OF ROSEAU ARE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.  VISITATION IS TOMORROW EVENING  (5-7 PM)  WITH A SEVEN O’CLOCK PRAYER SERVICE AT HELGESON’S;  AND AN HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE.  BURIAL IS AT MALUNG CEMETERY.

SANDRA ERICKSON WAS  79.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR RAY JOHNSON OF ROSEAU IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT FIRST UNITED LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU.  VISITATION IS FRIDAY EVENING  (5-7 PM)  WITH A SEVEN O’CLOCK MASONIC SERVICE,  FOLLOWED BY THE FAMILY SERVICE,  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   BURIAL IS AT HOPE CEMETERY IN ROSEAU.

RAY JOHNSON WAS  96.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR RICHARD J. KUKLOK OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD SATRUDAY AFTERNOON (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. VISITATION WILL BE HELD FRIDAY EVENING (5-7 PM) AT HELGESON’S IN WARROAD. INTERMENT WILL BE AT NORLAND CEMETERY IN SALOL. RICHARD KUKLOK WAS 74.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY GIRL SCOUTS AND THE ROSEAU COMMUNITY SCHOOL ARE COLLECTING NON-PERISHABLE FOOD AND HYGIENE ITEMS THROUGH TODAY AT CITIZENS STATE BANK AND BORDER STATE BANK IN ROSEAU,  AND AT DOUG’S SUPERMARKET IN WARROAD; AND DURING TOMORROW NIGHT’S ROSEAU/WARROAD FOOTBALL GAME AT HALVORSON FIELD IN ROSEAU ….  FOR DONATION TO THE ROSEAU AND WARROAD FOOD SHELVES.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT IS ADVERTISING FOR A DEAN OF STUDENTS,  TO WORK IN THE HIGH SCHOOL DURING KELSEY JOHNSON’S  APPROXIMATE TWELVE WEEK LEAVE OF ABSENCE THIS WINTER.   JOHNSON IS THE ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION DIRECTOR.   SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME TOLD THE SCHOOL BOARD HE’S HOPING TO FILL THE POSITION WITH A LICENSED EDUCATOR.

 

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIPS IS FRIDAY.   LIFECARE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FOR ROSEAU COUNTY STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN A HEALTHCARE RELATED POST-SECONDARY OR GRADUATE ACADEMIC PROGRAM.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HAS ACCEPTED A FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR DONATION FOR THE VETERANS SERVICE OFFICE FROM VETERANS’ RELIEF.

 

BOB FOLEY, SENIOR WILL BE INDUCTED IN THE ROSEAU COMMUNITY SCHOOL HALL OF FAME TOMORROW  (5:30 PM)  AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE.

HE’S ONLY THE SECOND INDUCTEE IN THAT HALL OF FAME SINCE 2001.

THE FIRST HONOREE WAS LONGTIME 4H LEADER DELORES ANDOL  (ann-doll) IN JULY OF  1986.
