THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS THE FIRST REAL SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON WILL HAPPEN LATER THIS WEEK.     DANIEL ROBINSON,  AT THE GRAND FORKS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE,  SAYS IT’LL START AS RAIN TOMORROW IN ROSEAU COUNT.

 

TAW CONNORS, THE CANADIAN STOMPER,  IS IN CONCERT SATURDAY EVENING AT THE SPRAGUE, MANITOBA COMMUNITY HALL.

MINNESOTA  D.N.R.  FORESTRY SAYS THE RAPID RIVER ROAD IS CLOSED;  AND THE THOMPSON AND RIVER ROADS WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENTS.

 

U.S. SENATORS TINA SMITH AND AMY KLOBUCHAR AND THIRTY SENATE COLLEAGUES ARE ASKING THAT ANY  END-OF-YEAR LEGISLATION INCLUDES A TWO YEAR RE-AUTHORIZATION OF THE PAYMENT IN LIEU OF TAXES  AND SECURE RURAL SCHOOLS PROGRAMS.

MINNESOTA COUNTIES,  IN 2018,  RECEIVED MORE THAN FIVE MILLION DOLLARS IN  PILT PAYMENTS,  AND OVER EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS IN  S.R.S. PAYMENTS;  INTENDED TO MAKE UP FOR LOST TAX REVENUE FROM FEDERAL LANDS.

MOST OF THE FEDERAL PILT MONEY IN MINNESOTA GOES TO COOK,  LAKE AND ST LOUIS COUNTIES.

 

 

SECOND HALF TAXES ON ALL REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY,  EXCEPT FARM CLASSIFICATIONS AND MOBILE HOMES,  ARE DUE BY NEXT TUESDAY AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY TREASURER’S OFFICE.

SECOND HALF TAXES ON FARM CLASSIFICATIONS AND MOBILE HOMES ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER 15TH.

 

‘WIC’  CLINICS ARE TODAY AT THE KITTSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN HALLOCK;  TOMORROW AT THE WARROAD AREA COMMUNITY CENTER;  AND THURSDAY AT THE RED LAKE FALLS COMMUNITY CENTER.

 

A GATHERING OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY SERVICE FOR VIRGINIA GERINGER OF SALOL IS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT FOUR AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  MEETING LAST NIGHT,  OFFERED KUDOS TO THE CITY STREETS AND UTILITIES EMPLOYEES,

FOR THEIR EFFORTS AFTER A LARGE RAIN EVENT SEPTEMBER 20TH AND 21ST;  WHEN  SEVEN INCHES OF RAIN FELL OVER A TWENTY HOUR PERIOD.
