THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY HAS A FREE PRESENTATION ON REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP,  AND THE BENEFITS OF A SUSTAINED WORKFORCE  NOVEMBER 19TH  (9-10 A.M.)  AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER.

 

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SAYS THERE HAVE BEEN THREE DEATHS,  AND MORE THAN EIGHTY CASES OF VAPING-RELATED LUNG INJURIES THIS YEAR.

TIM FOURNIER IS THE POLICE CHIEF IN NEW HOPE,  MINNESOTA;  HE SAYS LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ARE TRACKING DOWN ILLEGAL VAPING PRODUCTS,  BUT THAT EDUCATION IS THE KEY.

 

A PANCAKE BENEFIT FOR MARK GLAD OF GREENBUSH,  TO HELP WITH MEDICAL EXPENSES, IS NOVEMBER  24TH  AT THE GREENBUSH COMMUNITY CENTER.

NATE DALAGER,  A CONTRACT ENGINEER WITH THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED,  SAYS RAINFALL IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER HAS BEEN HISTORIC.

DALAGER EXPECTS DRAINDOWN IN ROSEAU COUNTY WILL TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  LAST WEEK,   AGAIN   APPROVED BJERK CONCESSIONS AT THE RAMS SPORTS CENTER.

 

LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER HAS A COMMUNITY FLU VACCINE CLINIC THIS AFTERNOON  (1:30-3 PM)  AT THE GREENBUSH COMMUNITY CENTER.

 

SEGMENTS TWO AND THREE OF THE GREAT NORTHERN TRANSMISSION LINE ARE COMPLETE IN LAKE OF THE WOODS AND KOOCHICHING COUNTIES;  AND SEGMENT ONE,  WHICH CROSSES HALF OF ROSEAU COUNTY,  IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETE BY NEXT SPRING.

JIM ATKINSON,  WITH MINNESOTA POWER,  SAYS WORK IN MANITOBA IS UNDERWAY.    WHEN COMPLETE,  THE HIGH VOLTAGE LINE WILL CARRY MANITOBA HYDRO POWER TO MINNESOTA’S IRON RANGE.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETS AGAIN THIS EVENING AS THEY WORK ON NEXT YEAR’S CITY BUDGET.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR LOIS NYSTROM OF ROSEAU ARE THIS MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT MOE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU.    VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.   BURIAL IS AT MOE/ROSE CEMETERY.

LOIS NYSTROM WAS  79.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR KAREN MARKSTROM OF ROSEAU ARE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT THE ROSEAU EVANGELICAL COVENANT CHURCH.  VISITATION IS FRIDAY EVENING  (5-7 PM)  WITH A SEVEN O’CLOCK PRAYER SERVICE AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.

KAREN MARKSTROM WAS  74.

 

MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ WILL BE IN EAST GRAND FORKS THIS AFTERNOON HOSTING A ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WITH FARMERS ON WEATHER-RELATED DIFFICULTIES THIS FALL.

WALZ WILL BE JOINED BY MINNESOTA AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER THOM PETERSEN.

 

THE ROSEAU PUBLIC LIBRARY IS HOSTING A YOUNG ADULT BOOK AND MOVIE CLUB SATURDAY  (11:15 A.M.-2 PM).    THEY’LL BE TALKING ABOUT THE BOOK AND WATCHING THE MOVIE   “MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN”, AND THEY’RE SERVING PIZZA.   THAT’S AIMED AT KIDS TWELVE AND OLDER.

THERE IS TRICK OR TREATING ALL DAY THURSDAY AT THE ROSEAU PUBLIC LIBRARY.

 

THE MINNESOTA  D.N.R. SAYS NEARLY FIFTY-SEVEN HUNDRED YOUNGSTERS HARVESTED A DEER DURING A STATEWIDE YOUTH SEASON EARLIER THIS MONTH.  MORE THAN TWENTY THOUSAND LICENSES WERE SOLD, AND THE HARVEST IS A 77 PERCENT INCREASE OVER LAST YEAR’S DEER SEASON.

THE FIRST REGIONAL YOUTH DEER HUNTING SEASON WAS IN NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA IN  2004.
