POLARIS INDUSTRIES IS SUSPENDING PRODUCTION  AT SEVERAL OF IT’S PLANTS,  INCLUDING ROSEAU,  FOR A WEEK.

POLARIS  C.E.O.  SCOTT WINE WILL CONTINUE SHIPPING FINISHED VEHICLES,  BUT IS ADJUSTING PRODUCTION SCHEDULES BASED ON  “CURRENT DEMAND SIGNALS AND CONTINUED MARKET UNCERTAINTY”.

POLARIS IS ALSO SUSPENDING OPERATIONS AT SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA; HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA;  MONTICELLO, MINNESOTA;  OSCEOLA, WISCONSIN;  AND BATTLE GROUND, WASHINGTON.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGER SUE GRAFSTROM HELD A WEBEX MEETING YESTERDAY WITH SEVERAL DOZEN COUNTY PARTNERS,  INCLUDING LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER.

PRESIDENT AND  C.E.O.  KEITH OKESON SAID THAT LIFECARE HAS A CONFERENCE CALL THIS WEEK WITH ALL NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA HOSPITALS;

AND THAT IT’S A DIFFICULT CHALLENGE TO BE PREPARED FOR A PANDEMIC.

KEITH OKESON DID SAY LIFECARE IS IN GOOD SHAPE FOR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT;   THAT WAS ECHOED BY THE THREE ALTRU CLINICS IN THE COUNTY,  AND BY THE WARROAD SENIOR LIVING CENTER.

 

BADGER AND GREENBUSH CITY OFFICES ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MET IN SPECIAL SESSION YESTERDAY EVENING,

UNANIMOUSLY  PASSING A MOTION  TO WAIVE UTILITY LATE FEES FOR THREE MONTHS FOR HOMEOWNERS AND BUSINESSES.

THE COUNCIL ALSO HEARD THAT ONE PART-TIME EMPLOYEE HAS BEEN QUARANTINED FOR FOURTEEN DAYS,  AFTER A POTENTIAL TRAVEL-RELATED COVID-19 EXPOSURE;

BUT THAT OTHERWISE,  ALL CITY EMPLOYEES ARE HEALTHY.

THE MOST FEDERALLY DEPENDENT STATES ARE NEW MEXICO,  MISSISSIPPI, WEST VIRGINIA AND MONTANA;   NORTH DAKOTA IS  13TH MOST DEPENDENT.

 

WITH MINNESOTA SCHOOLS CLOSED,  AT LEAST THROUGH THIS WEEK,  PARENTS ARE LOOKING AT A NEW NORMAL AT HOME.

SUELING SCHARDIN,  WITH THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION OF MINNESOTA,  SAYS TECHNOLOGY CAN BE HELPFUL.

 

A GRAND FORKS HERALD REPORT SAYS THE OUTLOOK FOR CANOLA ACREAGE IN NORTH DAKOTA IS STRONG FOR  2020;

WHERE FARMERS PLANTED A RECORD  ONE POINT SEVEN MILLION ACRES LAST YEAR;

AND WHERE IT’S EXPECTED THAT NUMBER WILL INCREASE THIS YEAR.

MOST OF THE CANOLA MEAL IN NORTH DAKOTA  IS USED TO FEED DAIRY CATTLE.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD MEETS IN REGULAR SESSION THIS MORNING.  THE COURTHOUSE IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC,  BUT THE COUNTY  I-T DEPARTMENT IS WORKING ON REMOTE WAYS TO MONITOR THE PROCEEDINGS,  WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO MAINLY REVOLVE AROUND CORONAVIRUS.

 

IT’S BEEN ABOUT TWELVE DAYS SINCE THE STATE OF MINNESOTA BEGAN AGGRESSIVELY REACTING TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK.

LIFECARE PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR JULIE PAHLEN WAS ASKED HOW LONG WE CAN EXPECT THE VIRUS TO PERSIST.

THE CITY OF ROSEAU DESCRIBES IT AS A  “DAY TO DAY”  SITUATION,  AND ADVISES RESIDENTS TO ADHERE TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND  THE  C-D-C.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL WILL BE HIRING A FULLTIME ENGLISH TEACHER AND A FULLTIME TECH ED INSTRUCTOR FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.

SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME SAID AT A SCHOOL BOARD MEETING EARLIER THIS MONTH THAT  ELEMENTARY AND SPECIAL EDUCATION POSITIONS WILL ALSO BE CONSIDERED.

 

MINNESOTA FARMERS WHO WANT TO RAISE OR PROCESS HEMP MUST APPLY FOR A LICENSE THROUGH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE BY NEXT TUESDAY  (MARCH 31).      FIRST TIME APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT FINGERPRINTS AND A PASS A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.
