THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, LAST WEEK, TALKED ABOUT SOFTWARE AND TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES FOR FIRE AND E.M.S. DEPARTMENTS IN THE COUNTY.
THE COUNTY BOARD, LAST YEAR, APPROVED FUNDING FOR EQUIPMENT TO TIE THOSE ENTITIES INTO THE COUNTY DISPATCH MAPPING SYSTEM.
THERE HAS BEEN SOME LOCAL RELUCTANCE TO IMPLEMENT THOSE UPGRADES.

 

THE CITY OF ROSEAU HAS RECEIVED 209 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN “CARES” ACT FUNDING.
MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI SAYS THE CITY WILL BE CAUTIOUS IN DISTRIBUTING THOSE DOLLARS PENDING FEDERAL AND STATE ELIGIBILITY GUIDANCE.

 

THE PAST FEW WEEKS HAVE BEEN UNUSUALLY WARM IN ROSEAU COUNTY, WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AS MUCH AS FIFTEEN DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
BILL BARRETT, AT THE GRAND FORKS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE, SAYS THAT’S CHANGING IN MID-JULY.

 

MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK THAT TWELVE MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE FEDERAL “CARES” ACT FUNDING WILL GO TO FOOD BANKS AND FOOD SHELVES TO HELP MEET INCREASED DEMAND DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC.
THERE ARE 350 FOOD SHELVES IN THE STATE, INCLUDING IN WARROAD, ROSEAU AND GREENBUSH;
AND SEVEN FOOD BANKS.
THE GOVERNOR SAYS THE CRISIS HAS MANY MINNESOTANS STRUGGLING WITH FOOD INSECURITY.
FOOD SHELVES IN THE STATE HAVE BEEN SERVING 300 THOUSAND PEOPLE EACH MONTH SINCE LATE MARCH; THAT’S A THIRTY PERCENT INCREASE OVER THE PRE-PANDEMIC DEMAND.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GARY GILTHVEDT OF ROSEAU WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE.
A FORMER PASTOR AT MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, GARY GILTHVEDT WAS 78.

 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR LINDA (PEARSON) HENRY OF ANACORTES, WASHINGTON (AND FORMERLY OF WARROAD) IS JULY 25TH AT ALLISON PARK IN WARROAD. SHE DIED EARLIER THIS MONTH IN A KAYAKING ACCIDENT NEAR HER HOME.
LINDA HENRY WAS 44.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR WAYNE JARSHAW IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT ST MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN WARROAD. VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.
WAYNE JARSHAW DIED IN EARLY JUNE AT PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON AT AGE 71.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY NOW HAS TWENTY-EIGHT CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19. THAT NUMBER WAS SIX IN LATE JUNE.
KITTSON COUNTY HAS TWO CASES, AND LAKE OF THE WOODS REMAINS THE ONLY COUNTY IN MINNESOTA WITHOUT A CONFIRMED CASE.
