A WARROAD COUPLE,  29 YEAR OLD CHRISTOPHER REINBOLD AND 33 YEAR OLD CHELSEY REINBOLD,  ARE FACING A HALF-DOZEN FELONY CHARGES FOR ALLEGEDLY BEATING THEIR INFANT CHILD. A ROSEAU COUNTY SOCIAL WORKER INVESTIGATED THE HOME IN MID-FEBRUARY;  THE CHILD WAS FOUND TO HAVE A SKULL FRACTURE,  AMONG OTHER INJURIES.

RESCUE EFFORTS WERE UNDERWAY YESTERDAY ON LAKE OF THE WOODS WHERE ICE ANGLERS WERE STRANDED AFTER SUNDAY’S BLIZZARD CONDITIONS BLOCKED ICE ROADS ON THE BIG LAKE.THE MINNESOTA  D.N.R.  IS SEEKING COMMENT ON A ROSEAU COUNTY PROPOSAL FOR GRANT-IN-AID FUNDING FOR THE BUTLER GRADE TRAIL. THAT’S A FIVE MILE TRAIL CONNECTION TO AREAS EAST OF THE BELTRAMI ISLAND STATE FOREST,  AND WOULD BE MAINTAINED BY THE ROSEAU/LAKE OF THE WOODS SPORTSMANS CLUB. THE  D.N.R.  IS TAKING WRITTEN COMMENTS THROUGH MARCH  25TH.

BAGLEY SCHOOL STUDENTS WERE SENT HOME EARLY YESTERDAY AFTER HEAVY SNOW CAUSED PART OF THE CEILING AT THE BAGLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO SAG.   THE WEIGHT OF THE SNOW ON  THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING WAS SAID TO BE THE CAUSE.

FIFTY YEAR OLD TAMARA DeVORE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH ARSON AND INSURANCE FRAUD  AFTER ALLEGEDLY SETTING HER BUSINESS,  THE CARIBOU GRILL IN HALLOCK,  ON FIRE LAST WEEK.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR PATRICIA GLAGAVS OF MAPLEWOOD, MINNESOTA  (AND FORMERLY OF ROSEAU)  IS THIS MORNING AT ELEVEN AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. PATRICIA GLAGAVS WAS  78.

A SNOWY FEBRUARY MEANS THE SPRING FLOODING OUTLOOK FOR THE RED RIVER VALLEY HAS CHANGED.METEOROLOGISTS AT THE GRAND FORKS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE SAY THE RISK FOR SIGNIFICANT FLOODING IS MUCH HIGHER THAN A MONTH AGO,  DUE TO SUBSTANTIAL SNOWPACK ACROSS THE REGION. GREG GUST SAYS WE’RE NOT AT RECORD SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ….. THE NEXT FLOOD FORECAST COMES OUT MARCH  9TH.

ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS ARE AT A SUB-REGION COMPETITION TODAY IN CROOKSTON.

A MINNESOTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY TRAVELING EXHIBIT ON THE YEAR  1968 COMES TO THE ROSEAU COUNTY MUSEUM MARCH 11TH. IT’S CALLED  “COMING OF AGE”. BILL CONVERY IS THE HEAD OF EXHIBITS AT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY IN ST PAUL …. THE ROSEAU COUNTY EXHIBIT WILL INCORPORATE LOCAL PIECES.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS RENEWED IT’S APPLICATIONS FOR MINNESOTA READING AND MATH CORPS PROGRAMS. SUPERINTENDENT LARRY GUGGISBERG SAYS MATH CORPS VOLUNTEERS HAVE BEEN  “VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET”. THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ROSEAU COUNTY TOWNSHIP OFFICERS ASSOCIATION IS THIS EVENING  (7 PM)  AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER.

MIKE PONTIUS, THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER FOR  MINNESOTA POWER’S  GREAT NORTHERN TRANSMISSION LINE,  MET WITH THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD EARLIER THIS MONTH. HE SAID THE COMPANY IS EXPECTING STEEL DELIVERIES IN MARCH AND APRIL; AND SAYS THERE HAS BEEN A VIRTUAL ARMY OF CONSTRUCTION WORKERS IN ROSEAU COUNTY THIS WINTER … MINNESOTA POWER EXPECTS THAT HIGH VOLTAGE POWER LINE WILL BE IN SERVICE BY SPRING OR SUMMER OF 2020.

A BENEFIT DINNER FOR TOM DURAY,  TO HELP WITH MEDICAL COSTS,  IS SATURDAY  (4-8 PM)  AT THE GREENBUSH AMERICAN LEGION.

A  ‘WIC’  CLINIC IS TODAY AT GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GRYGLA.
