ON AN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COVID CALL YESTERDAY, LIFECARE PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR JULIE PAHLEN SAID 353 ROSEAU COUNTY RESIDENTS HAVE RECEIVED TWO DOSES OF COVID VACCINE, AND ANOTHER 978 HAVE GOTTEN THEIR FIRST SHOT. THERE ARE SECOND DOSE CLINICS THIS WEEK IN ROSEAU COUNTY.

 

A ROSEAU COUNTY COMMITTEE MEETS TODAY TO TALK ABOUT THE COUNTY’S SMALL BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT GRANT PROGRAM,
WHICH WOULD DISTRIBUTE STATE MONEY TO ENTITIES IN THE COUNTY THAT HAVE LOST REVENUE AS A RESULT OF THE COVID PANDEMIC.
REQUESTS FOR THAT FINANCIAL HELP HAVE FAR EXCEEDED THE 300 THOUSAND DOLLARS PROVIDED BY THE STATE.

 

FORECASTERS SAY FEBRUARY WILL LIKELY BE COLDER THAN NORMAL, AND TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DIP STARTING THIS WEEKEND,
WITH A LOW IN THE TWENTIES BELOW ZERO SATURDAY NIGHT.
MINNESOTA GOT 106 MILLION DOLLARS LATE LAST YEAR FOR A HEATING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

THAT PERSON HAS REPORTED TO THE CITY SUPERINTENDENT, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR AND THE PARK BOARD IN THE PAST.
CITY SUPERINTENDENT DAVID DROWN SAID THE PARKS AND REC DIRECTOR NEEDS TO HAVE A SINGLE SUPERVISOR.
ROSEAU HAS HAD SIX DIFFERENT PEOPLE FILL THAT PARKS AND REC ROLE OVER THE PAST TWO DECADES.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, LAST WEEK, APPROVED A PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE AT THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT;
WITH SOME NEW CATEGORIES, INCLUDING WORK BY PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS IN THE COUNTY’S RIGHT-OF-WAY.

 

WARROAD-BASED “HELPP, INC” IS A NONPROFIT THAT HELPS RESIDENTS AND WORKERS IN THE WARROAD SCHOOL DISTRICT WHO ARE FACING FINANCIAL EMERGENCIES AND HARDSHIPS.
RICK CORNELIUSON, THE PRESIDENT OF “HELPP, INC” SAYS THEIR GOAL THIS YEAR IS ASSISTING IN STARTING SIMILAR ORGANIZATIONS IN ROSEAU AND LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTIES.
CORNELIUSON SAYS ONCE A SIMILAR ORGANIZATION IS FOUNDED, “HELPP, INC” WOULD PROVIDE SOME STARTUP FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.

53 YEAR OLD VIRGINIA STEWART OF LONGVILLE WAS KILLED IN A HEAD-ON CRASH YESTERDAY AFTERNOON ON HIGHWAY 200 IN CASS COUNTY, BETWEEN WALKER AND HACKENSACK. STEWART’S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY A PICKUP DRIVEN BY 39 YEAR OLD COREY WUORI OF WALKER.

 

THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT HAS AWARDED TWO AND A HALF BILLION DOLLARS TO SUPPORT HOMELESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.
