SNOW TOTALS ARE IN FROM THE WEEKEND BLIZZARD ACROSS NORTHERN AND WESTERN MINNESOTA AND THE DAKOTAS.

ROSEAU OFFICIALLY HAD SEVEN INCHES OF SNOW;    WHILE OKLEE REPORTED SIXTEEN INCHES ….

THIRTEEN INCHES IN BEMIDJI AND GRAND FORKS;  A DOZEN IN DETROIT LAKES ….

AND ELLENDALE, NORTH DAKOTA  (IN THE SOUTHEASTERN CORNER OF THAT STATE)  HAD A WHOPPING  TWENTY-SIX INCHES OF SNOW.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE FOR FORMER BAUDETTE RESIDENT MAE PETERSON,  WHO DIED AT A FOREST LAKE ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY SUNDAY.

BURIAL IS AT ELM PARK CEMETERY AT BAUDETTE.

NELSON WAS MINNESOTA’S  12TH GOVERNOR,  SERVING FROM  1893 TO  1895;

AND SERVED 28 YEARS AS A U.S. SENATOR FROM MINNESOTA,  FROM   1895-1923.

 

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SAYS THE POPULATION OF THE STATE WILL GROW AT IT’S SLOWEST PACE EVER DURING THE NEXT DECADE;

AND THE MINNESOTA ECONOMY WILL BE SQUEEZED AS THE LAST BABY BOOMERS RETIRE OVER THE NEXT TEN YEARS.

SUNDAY’S GRAND FORKS HERALD HAD A BRAD DOKKEN FEATURE ON THE TOP OUTDOORS STORIES OF THE DECADE,  WITH CHRONIC WASTING DISEASE IN DEER AT THE TOP OF THE LIST.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED HIRING FINANCIAL ADVISORS  EHLERS AND ASSOCIATES TO HELP WITH AN INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE AUDIT OF THE COUNTY’S JAIL REPAYMENT BOND.

TREASURER DIANE GREGERSON SAYS THE AUDIT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN TRIGGERED BY A RE-FINANCING OF THAT BOND SEVERAL  YEARS AGO.
