THE ROSEAU SCHOOL HOSTS AN OPEN HOUSE TOMORROW EVENING, WITH SCHOOL STARTING A WEEK FROM TODAY. THE ROSEAU DISTRICT HAS A NEW SUPERINTENDENT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWO DECADES, WITH TOM JEROME TAKING OVER FOR LARRY GUGGISBERG LAST MONTH.
JEROME HAD BEEN SUPERINTENDENT AT BADGER, AND GREENBUSH/MIDDLE RIVER THE PAST TEN YEARS; HE SAYS THE JOB IS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME.
JEROME’S PREDECESSOR, LARRY GUGGISBERG, IS SERVING AS A PART-TIME INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT AT GREENBUSH/MIDDLE RIVER.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, EARLIER THIS MONTH, MET WITH MYLES HOGENSON FROM THE ROSEAU/LAKE OF THE WOODS SPORTSMANS CLUB, WHO SAID THE CLUB HAS COMPLETED THE BEMIS GRADE AND BUTLER GRADE AND ADDED THEM TO THEIR GRANT-IN-AID APPLICATION. HOGENSON SAID THE COMPLETION OF THOSE SECTIONS OF TRAIL ALLOWS A-T-V TRAVEL FROM WILLIAMS TO FOURTOWN.

 

NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA FARMERS CONTINUE TO GROW CROPS LIKE SOYBEANS AND WHEAT, AND GRASS SEEDS;
BUT RANDY KOENEN, FROM THE RED RIVER FARM NETWORK, SAYS THEY ARE INCREASINGLY LOOKING AT OTHER POTENTIAL CASH CROPS.
SEVERAL ROSEAU COUNTY FARMERS ARE GROWING INDUSTRIAL HEMP THIS YEAR, ON A TRIAL BASIS.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, EARLIER THIS MONTH, AUTHORIZED PARTICIPATION IN RED RIVER BASIN PHOSPHOROUS REDUCTION PLANNING. THE CITY WILL CONTINUE EFFORTS TO MINIMIZE MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY ATTEMPTS TO REGULATE PHOSPHOROUS.

 

THURSDAY IS SENIOR RECOGNITION DAY AT THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR, WHEN THE OUTSTANDING SENIOR CITIZEN VOLUNTEER AWARD CEREMONY WILL BE HELD. ROSEAU COUNTY CANDIDATES ARE CAROL HOLLAND AND DENNIS SMEDSMO, BOTH OF ROSEAU.

 

THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ARCHERY CLUB WILL OFFER A YOUTH ARCHERY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN DECEMBER.
BOB MOSER SAYS COACHES HAVE BEEN TRAINED BY U.S.A. ARCHERY; THEY’VE HAD MORE THAN A HUNDRED KIDS INVOLVED IN YOUTH ARCHERY THE PAST TWO SPRINGS.

 

THE FINAL CONCERT OF THE SUMMER AT ROSEAU’S RIVERVIEW PARK GAZEBO IS THURSDAY EVENING, FEATURING THE DULUTH-BASED “DANCE ATTIC”.
THAT DUO FEATURES ROSEAU NATIVE SUZI LUDWIG.

ROSEAU RELAY FOR LIFE WILL HAVE A SILENT AUCTION AND LIVE AUCTION DURING AND AFTER THURSDAY’S CONCERT, AFTER HAVING BEEN RAINED OUT OF THEIR ANNUAL RELAY EVENT TWO WEEKS AGO.

 

R.S.V.P. OF CROOKSTON IS SCHEDULED AT ROSEAU’S FOUR SEASONS SENIOR CENTER THIS MORNING (10 A.M.) TO TALK ABOUT THEIR SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS IN SPECIAL SESSION THURSDAY (Noon). THE AGENDA INCLUDES THE HIRING OF TWO HALF-TIME SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS, TO REPLACE THE LATE DALE CARLSON …. THE RESIGNATION OF INDUSTRIAL TECH TEACHER JESSE JOHNSTON …. AND THE POTENTIAL HIRING OF AN INTERIM DEAN OF STUDENTS.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY FARM SERVICE AGENCY IS HIRING A PROGRAM TECHNICIAN. THE APPLICATION PERIOD OPENED YESTERDAY.

 

NORTH DAKOTA’S FIRST FIELD DAY ON THE PERENNIAL GRAIN CROP KERNZA IS SEPTEMBER 26TH IN WILLISTON.
ROSEAU FARMER RICHARD MAGNUSSON HAS GROWN KERNZA FOR FIVE YEARS; HE SAYS “THE VIABILITY OF THE CROP ISN’T CERTAIN YET”.

 

STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAN FABIAN (R/ ROSEAU) IS RECOGNIZING MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS OF WARROAD, AND DIGI-KEY OF THIEF RIVER FALLS. THOSE COMPANIES HAVE BEEN NAMED TO FORBES MAGAZINES’ LIST OF AMERICA’S BEST EMPLOYERS.
