THE CITY OF ROSEAU HAS ACCEPTED A TWENTY SIX HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE DOLLAR GRANT FROM THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL FOR THE ROSEAU GAZEBO CONCERT SERIES FUND.

 

THE ROSEAU PLANNING COMMISSION WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING SEPTEMBER 29TH FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE FORMER BUDD HOSPITAL TO BE CONVERTED TO AN APARTMENT BUILDING. THE BUILDING, WHICH IS OWNED BY LEW AND DANIELLE WIBBELS, IS JUST WEST OF MEMORIAL ARENA.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, THIS WEEK, HEARD THAT IT’S BROADBAND APPLICATION THROUGH THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM WAS NOT APPROVED.

 

THE ROSEAU PARKS AND REC DEPARTMENT IS LOOKING FOR MORE PART-TIME EMPLOYEES FOR THE WINTER AT MEMORIAL ARENA.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER JACK SWANSON TO THE COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS JUSTICE REINVESTMENT INITIATIVE WORKING GROUP. THAT’S A MULTI-STATE EFFORT AIMED AT EQUITABLE PROBATION FUNDING.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HAS APPROVED A ONE HUNDRED FORTY THOUSAND DOLLAR VICTIM SERVICES GRANT, WHICH IS ADMINISTERED BY THE COUNTY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS PRESENTING A ONE WOMAN SHOW ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22ND. THE SHOW ENTITLED “SAMANTHA RASTLES THE WOMAN QUESTION” FEATURES JANE CURRY AS SAMANTHA SMITH ALLEN, A PHILOSOPHER WHO CHALLENGES THE SOCIAL NORMS REGARDING WOMEN. THE SHOW IS FREE AND OPEN TO ALL AND BEGINS AT 7 P.M. THERE IS THE OPTION OF COMING EARLY FOR A MEATBALL DINNER FOR $15 PER PLATE.

 

A FREE-WILL BREAKFAST BENEFIT FOR PASTOR JOE ELICK WILL BE HELD THIS SUNDAY FROM 11:00-1:00 AT THE ROSEAU EVANGELICAL COVENANT CHURCH.

 

A COLLECTION OF WINTER COATS AND OTHER WINTER GEAR IS ONGOING, AND ANY DONATIONS YOU MAY HAVE CAN BE DROPPED OFF AT TRANSFERS IN ROSEAU, ALONG WITH CITIZENS STATE BANK, POLARIS, AND THE ROSEAU PUBLIC LIBRARY THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30TH. THE ITEMS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED ON OCTOBER 4TH AT THE CITY CENTER FROM 10:00-6:00.

 

THERE IS A COMMUNITY SPAGHETTI FEED IN BADGER TONIGHT AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER, PUT ON BY BORDER BANK, AS THE FIRST EVENT FOR BADGER FALL FEST THAT ALSO RUNS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR WILLIAM “BILL” ELLIOTT PALMER OF BADGER WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY (5-7 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. BILL PALMER WAS 58.

 

A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL FOR STEPHANIE SCHMITZ OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD TOMORROW (10:30 AM) AT ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN WARROAD. VISITATION WILL BE ONE HOUR PRIOR. STEPHANIE SCHMITZ WAS 80.
