THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  HEARD ABOUT A PLAN FOR              RE-OPENING COUNTY FACILITIES TO THE PUBLIC.

COORDINATOR JEFF PELOWSKI SAID DEPARTMENT HEADS ARE WORKING ON REQUIRED PREPAREDNESS PLANS FOR A POTENTIAL JUNE FIRST RE-OPENING.

THE COUNTY WILL OBSERVE  C-D-C  AND MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR STAFF AND PUBLIC SAFETY.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  THIS WEEK,  TALKED ABOUT A CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION REPORT TO THE U.S. HOUSE ON COST SAVINGS WITH REDUCED HOURS AT THE ROSEAU AND LANCASTER PORTS OF ENTRY.

THE REPORT TOOK  C-B-P MORE THAN A YEAR,  AND SHOWED ANNUAL SAVINGS OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ANNUALLY FROM THE REDUCED HOURS.

CONGRESSMAN COLLIN PETERSON IS ASKING THE TWO CITIES FOR AN ESTIMATE OF THEIR LOSS OF REVENUE SINCE THOSE REDUCED HOURS WERE IMPLEMENTED.

 

LIFECARE PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR JULIE PAHLEN SAID THIS WEEK THAT HER DEPARTMENT IS WORKING ON TRAINING A STAFF MEMBER FOR CONTACT TRACING.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS SEEKING NEARLY FIVE THOUSAND COVID  CONTACT TRACERS,  AND IS WORKING WITH LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH AGENCIES TOWARD THAT GOAL.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION DIRECTOR KELSEY JOHNSON;

AND THE RESIGNATION OF PARAPROFESSIONAL PAT KIRKEBY.

 

ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION WILL BE MAY  31ST,  AS SCHEDULED;  BUT WILL BE A FIRST-OF-IT’S KIND GRADUATION CEREMONY IN ROSEAU.

ROSEAU SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME SAYS THE GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR JUST OVER SEVENTY ROSEAU SENIORS WILL BE HELD IN THE PARKING LOT ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE SCHOOL.

 

A ROSEAU MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCE STARTS WITH A TRIBUTE ON WILD 102 AT  8:30 A.M. MONDAY;

AND A TRIBUTE AND ROLL CALL OF HONOR AT AND NEAR THE VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK STARTING AT NINE.

IN BADGER,  A TRIBUTE TO THOSE LOST AT SEA IS AT TEN,  FOLLOWED BY A MARCH TO THE BADGER VETERANS MEMORIAL.

 

MINNESOTA SCHOOL NURSES ARE USING VIRTUAL MEETS WITH STUDENTS DURING THE PANDEMIC CLOSURE,  AND PREPARING FOR THE EVENTUAL RE-OPENING OF SCHOOLS  IN THE STATE.

TOM STINSON IS A NURSE AT HARDING HIGH SCHOOL IN ST PAUL;  HE SAYS REMOTE CONTACTS ARE NOT AS EFFECTIVE.

STINSON SAYS SOME STUDENTS SIMPLY DON’T RESPOND TO OUTREACH EFFORTS.
