BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THE DAY AS BLIZZARD GERALDINE ROLLS ACROSS THE REGION. THE STORM HAS BEEN CLOSING INTERSTATES FROM WYOMING, NEBRASKA AND THE DAKOTAS. STUDENTS IN GRAND FORKS AT RED RIVER HIGH SCHOOL YESTERDAY WERE SENT HOME DUE TO SNOW CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE ROOF. IT HAS MANY SCHOOLS CANCELLING CLASSES FOR TODAY.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, THIS WEEK,  APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT OF BRENT WALSH OF BADGER TO THE COUNTY EXTENSION COMMITTEE.

SPRING LOAD RESTRICTIONS START TOMORROW IN THE SOUTH, SOUTHEAST, METRO, AND CENTRAL FROST ZONES. THAT’S MOSTLY EVERYTHING SOUTH OF WADENA.

AN OPEN HOUSE FOR LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER’S  REHABILITATION AND FITNESS CENTER IN ROSEAU IS NEXT THURSDAY AND FRIDAY  (March 21 & 22).

LIFECARE HAS TWENTY-FOUR HOUR COMMUNITY FITNESS CENTERS IN ROSEAU,  WARROAD  AND GREENBUSH.

BOY SCOUTS AND CUB SCOUTS IN ROSEAU WILL BE “SCOUTING FOR FOOD” ON TUESDAY. THAT IS GOING TO DOOR TO DOOR COLLECTING FOOD AND MONETARY DONATIONS FOR THE ROSEAU FOOD SHELF.

A PANCAKE BREAKFAST BENEFIT FOR MITCH BERGER IS SUNDAY   (8-1)  AT THE WANNASKA COMMUNITY CENTER.IT’S SPONSORED BY THE WANNASKA LIONS CLUB.

A BLOOD DRIVE SPONSORED BY THE ROSEAU NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY IS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20TH (9 AM-2:45 PM) IN THE OLD HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA. APPOINTMENTS CAN BE MADE IN THE HIGH SCHOOL OFFICE.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR MARION CARLSON OF RURAL ROSEAU WILL BE MONDAY (11 AM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. VISITATION WILL BE AN HOUR PRIOR. MARION CARLSON WAS 90.

REGULATIONS FOR MILLE LACS LAKE HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR SUMMER FISHING. ONE WALLEYE OF SPECIFIC SIZES WILL BE ABLE TO BE KEPT BY ANGLERS, BUT ONLY FROM MAY 11TH TO 31ST. DNR OFFICIALS SAY THEY ARE EXCITED TO ALLOW SOME WALLEY TO BE KEPT, BUT ARE STILL BEING VERY CAUTIOUS. IT’S FIRST TIME WALLEYE CAN BE KEPT ON THE LAKE SINCE 2015.

THE DEADLINE FOR REMOVING FISH HOUSES ON NORTHERN LAKES IS MONDAY. FISH HOUSES CAN NO LONGER REMAIN ON THE LAKES BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND SUNRISE UNLESS THEY ARE OCCUPIED. THE DEADLINE ONLY APPLIES TO INLAND LAKES. OFFICIALS URGE PEOPLE TO ACT AHEAD OF TIME AS THE HEAVY AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE CAUSING PROBLEMS IN MOVING SOME OF THOSE STRUCTURES.

A PAID FAMILY LEAVE BILL IN MINNESOTA RECEIVED APPROVAL IN THE JUDICIARY FINANCE AND CIVAL LAW DIVISION, WHICH WILL KEEP IT MOVING THROUGH THE LEGISLATURE. THE AUTHORS OF THE BILL SAY IT WOULD BE A SAFETY NET FOR FAMILIES WHEN CARING FOR A NEW BABY.
