ROSEAU COUNTY’S  OUTSTANDING SENIOR CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FOR 2019 ARE CAROL HOLLAND OF ROSEAU,  AND DENNIS SMEDSMO OF ROSEAU.

THEY WILL BE HONORED AT A RECOGNITION BANQUET NEXT THURSDAY  (July 18th)  AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH OF GREENBUSH,  AND AT CHURCH NIGHT AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR  (July 21st).

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  AUTHORIZED ADVERTISING FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO THE WARROAD RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT BOARD.

JOE OLAFSON’S TERM  IS EXPIRING;  OLAFSON IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR ANOTHER TERM.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR BETTY SULLAND OF ROSEAU IS THIS MORNING AT ELEVEN AT MOE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU.  VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.    BURIAL IS AT SALEM CEMETERY AT ROSEAU.

BETTY SULLAND WAS  90.

 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR PAULEEN JORGENSON OF ROSEAU IS TOMORROW MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT CONCORDIA LUTHERAN CHURCH AT ROSS.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

PAULEEN JORGENSON WAS  67.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR WILLIE HEPPNER OF WARROAD ARE TOMORROW MORNING AT ELEVEN AT THE WARROAD AREA COMMUNITY CENTER.

WILLIE HEPPNER WAS  69.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR ERIC BENDICKSON OF WARROAD IS SATURDAY MORNING AT TEN AT ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH IN WARROAD. VISITATION IS TOMORROW EVENING  (5-7 PM)  WITH A SEVEN O’CLOCK PRAYER SERVICE AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD.

ERIC BENDICKSON WAS  36.

 

THE  U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE SAYS MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS IN PREVENTED PLANT CLAIMS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PAID,  AND  U.S.D.A. EXPECTS THAT NUMBER TO PASS THE ONE BILLION DOLLAR MARK.

THE NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION SERVICE HAS ALSO ANNOUNCED COST-SHARE FUNDING FOR COVER CROPS IN EIGHT STATES,  INCLUDING MINNESOTA;  THAT MONEY IS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE  ‘EQIP’  PROGRAM.

 

THE MIDWEST MOTORCYCLE CLUB HOSTS A BIKE SHOW AND FUN RUN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AT SEVEN CLANS CASINO IN WARROAD.

 

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA EXTENSION HAS A SMALL GRAINS SUMMER PLOT TOUR IN STRATHCONA THIS AFTERNOON  (1 PM)  AT THE JIM KUKOWSKI FARM.

THE PLOT TOURS ARE SPONSORED BY THE MINNESOTA WHEAT RESEARCH AND PROMOTION COUNCIL.

 

THE RIVERVIEW PARK GAZEBO SUMMER CONCERT SERIES CONTINUES TONIGHT WITH A PERFORMANCE BY ROSEAU’S  GABBIE JUNE.

NEXT WEEK’S SHOW FEATURES BLIND JOE,  A GRAND RAPIDS-BASED COUNTRY MUSICIAN.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED A COST-SHARE WITH THE ROSEAU SCHOOL FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN THE MEMORIAL ARENA LOBBY,  INCLUDING WORK ON TROPHY CASES.

THE LAST IMPROVEMENTS DONE AT THE MEMORIAL ARENA LOBBY WERE IN 1990.

THE COUNCIL ALSO AUTHORIZED INSTALLATION OF ONLINE STREAMING CAMERAS AT THE CITY-OWNED ARENA,  FOR HOCKEY GAME BROADCASTS.

 

A SUMMER READING PROGRAM CONTINUES AT THE ROSEAU PUBLIC LIBRARY;  AND MOVIES ARE SHOWN THURSDAY AFTERNOONS AT TWO,  IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ROSEAU COUNTY MUSEUM.
