THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  MEETING IN SPECIAL SESSION MONDAY,  APPROVED A MAY  12TH  BOND REFERENDUM.

THERE WILL BE TWO QUESTIONS ON THE BALLOT FOR A RENOVATION PROJECT PLANNED PRIMARILY FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL END OF THE BUILDING.

 

ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS WERE  13TH  AND  28TH  OUT OF FORTY TEAMS AT A COMPETITION YESTERDAY IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.

 

7TH GRADER ABRAM HINSON WON MONDAY’S ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT SPELLING BEE.

HIS SISTER,  5TH GRADER JOSEPHINE,  WAS THE RUNNERUP.

THE OTHER FINALISTS WERE 6TH GRADER RUBY OSWEILER AND  5TH GRADER ABBY SWANSON.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR MARILYN FLATEN OF ROSEAU IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   VISITATION IS THIS EVENING (5-7 PM)  WITH A SEVEN O’CLOCK PRAYER SERVICE AT HELGESON’S.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR CONNIE NORSTEBON OF BAUDETTE IS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING WATER,  EAST OF BAUDETTE.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR PAUL MILLER OF GREENBUSH ARE TUESDAY MORNING AT  10:30  AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GREENBUSH.  VISITATION IS MONDAY EVENING AFTER SIX,  WITH A SEVEN O’CLOCK PRAYER SERVICE,  AT THE CHURCH.

PAUL MILLER WAS  51.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ANGELA WYNNE IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT FOUR   AT THE BADGER BAPTIST CHURCH.

THE MINNESOTA SUPREME  COURT HAS UPHELD THE FIFTEEN DOLLAR PER HOUR MINUMUM WAGE ORDINANCE IN MINNEAPOLIS;  OPPONENTS SAID THE CITY’S ORDINANCE CONFLICTED WITH STATE WAGE LAWS,  AND IS HARMFUL TO SMALL BUSINESSES.

KEN JACOBS,  A LABOR ECONOMIST AT THE UNIVERSITY of CALIFORNIA/BERKELEY,  SAYS RESEARCH SHOWS LITTLE EVIDENCE OF HIGHER WAGES HAVING A NEGATIVE EFFECT.

 

WIKSTROM TELEPHONE COMPANY OF KARLSTAD WILL RECEIVE JUST OVER ONE POINT ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN GRANT MONEY FOR BROADBAND FIBER BUILDOUT IN ROSEAU,  LAKE OF THE WOODS,  KITTSON, MARSHALL AND PENNINGTON COUNTIES.

AL LUNDEEN,  AT WIKTEL,  SAYS THEY PLAN TO PLOW IN FIBER THIS SUMMER NEAR ROOSEVELT,  VIKING AND LAKE BRONSON.

WIKTEL PLANS TO UPGRADE ABOUT  316 UNSERVED LOCATIONS IN THEIR SERVICE AREA IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA.

 

A NEW BOOK OF STORIES FROM  SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS OF THE MINNESOTA BOYS STATE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT CALLED “TOURNEY TIME”  WILL BE RELEASED NEXT MONTH.   THE CO-AUTHORS ARE DAVID LaVAQUE AND LOREN NELSON;   NELSON PLAYED HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY AT INDUS,  AND WROTE THE ROSEAU FEATURES IN THE BOOK.

 

ANOTHER  D.N.R.  WORKSHOP ON DEER MANAGEMENT AND DEER POPULATIONS IS THIS EVENING  IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.

 

TYSON AND CASSIE LOVEJOY OF WARROAD ARE ROSEAU COUNTY’S  2020 REPRESENTATIVES IN THE RED RIVER VALLEY EMERGING LEADERSHIP PROGRAM.
