THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED NEW ASSESSMENT RATES FOR TOWNSHIPS AS THE COUNTY MOVES TO A TRUE COUNTY SYSTEM OF ASSESSING PROPERTY VALUES.

THE COUNTY APPROVED MOSTLY ONE DOLLAR PER PARCEL INCREASES.

 

LIFECARE E.M.S. WAS THE RECIPIENT OF PROCEEDS FROM YESTERDAY’S  VIKINGS/PACKERS TAILGATE FUNDRAISER  AT THE ROSEAU AMERICAN LEGION; WITH THE MONEY GOING TOWARD AN UPFITTED POLARIS RANGER FOR THE HOSPITAL’S AMBULANCE SERVICE.

LAST YEAR,  THE TAILGATE PARTY HELPED THE ROSEAU FIRE DEPARTMENT BUY A PORTABLE JAWS OF LIFE.

ROSEAU FIRE CHIEF CRAIG McMILLIN.   HIS DEPARTMENT HOSTS THEIR ANNUAL BARBEQUE AND BALL SATURDAY.

 

 

A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL FOR ROBERT SIROVATKA OF BAUDETTE IS THIS MORNING AT TEN AT SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH IN BAUDETTE.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

A USED BOOK SALE IS WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY AT CLEARSPRING MALL IN STEINBACH, MANITOBA.   IT’S A FUNDRAISER FOR EAST BORDERLAND HOUSING.

THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT HAS AN OPEN HOUSE THURSDAY EVENING ON THEIR WHITNEY LAKE PROJECT,  AND ON  “WRAPS” –  WHICH IS THE MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY’S  WATERSHED RESTORATION AND PROTECTION STRATEGIES.

 

THE ROSEAU FARM SERVICE AGENCY OFFICE IS TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE FEDERAL MARKET FACILITATION PROGRAM,

WHICH IS PAYING FARMERS IN ROSEAU COUNTY UP TO FORTY-THREE DOLLARS AN ACRE TO HELP OFFSET THE IMPACTS OF THE CURRENT TARIFF WAR.

DUSTIN SPAETH IS AT THE ROSEAU  F.S.A. OFFICE, HE SAYS THE FIRST  HALF-PAYMENTS ARE EXPECTED LATE THIS FALL,  WITH THE REMAINDER IN  2020 IF THE TARIFF TROUBLES CONTINUE.

 

‘WIC’  CLINICS ARE TODAY IN WARREN;  TOMORROW IN KARLSTAD;  AND WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AT LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER IN ROSEAU.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS IN REGULAR MONTHLY SESSION THIS EVENING.

 

TODAY IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR FUNDING PROPOSALS FOR PROGRAMS,  PROJECTS AND SERVICES THAT SUPPORT LOCAL HEALTH CARE.   GRANT REQUESTS ARE CONSIDERED FROM QUALIFIED NONPROFITS IN THE LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER SERVICE AREA.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY TRAILBLAZERS ARE HOPING TO ADD NINETEEN MILES OF GRANT-IN-AID TRAIL TO THEIR SYSTEM IN THE COUNTY,  WITH THE PROPOSED ADDITION OF THE ROSEAU TO WARROAD ABANDONED RAILBED  (WHICH IS OWNED BY THE TRAILBLAZERS).

MYLES HOGENSON SAYS THE CLUB CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 350 MILES OF GRANT-IN-AID TRAIL.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETS IN SPECIAL SESSION TOMORROW EVENING,  WHEN THEY’RE EXPECTED TO APPROVE THE HIRE OF A PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR.

THE CITY HAS BEEN WITHOUT A DIRECTOR SINCE KATY SPODEN’S RESIGNATION LAST SPRING.

 

MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ ANNOUNCED SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS LAST WEEK,  INCLUDING NEIL PETERSON OF ST HILAIRE TO THE BOARD OF WATER AND SOIL RESOURCES.  PETERSON IS A PENNINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER.
