81 YEAR OLD JEANETTE COLE OF WARROAD WAS TAKEN TO LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER IN ROSEAU YESTERDAY MORNING  WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AFTER A TWO VEHICLE CRASH ON HIGHWAY ELEVEN JUST WEST OF WARROAD.

COLE WAS THE DRIVER OF A CAR THAT COLLIDED WITH A PICKUP DRIVEN BY 23 YEAR OLD BAIHLY HONTVET OF WARROAD.    HONTVET WAS NOT HURT,  NOR WAS  JOSHUA HAGG OF COLD SPRING, MINNESOTA  (A PASSENGER IN THE COLE VEHICLE).

 

51 YEAR OLD SCOTT LILLEMOEN OF MAYVILLE, NORTH DAKOTA WAS KILLED EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING  (JUST BEFORE FOUR A.M.)  IN A SINGLE VEHICLE ROLLOVER ON HIGHWAY 75 IN POLK COUNTY.

LILLEMOEN DRIFTED INTO THE DITCH AND ROLLED HIS PICKUP;  HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE VEHICLE AND WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY HAS HAD IT’S COLDEST OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER IN SEVENTEEN YEARS THIS FALL,

AT ABOUT FIFTEEN DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.

GREG GUST IS AT THE GRAND FORKS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE. GUST SAYS LAST FALL WAS NEARLY AS COLD AS THIS YEAR,  BUT DECEMBER WAS WARMER THAN NORMAL.

THE COLDEST OCTOBER/NOVEMBER PERIODS HISTORICALLY WERE IN  1919,  1925 AND  2002.

 

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY HAS AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES TOMORROW MORNING  (9-10 A.M.)  AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER.

JOHN AIKEN IS THE DIRECTOR OF LABOR STANDARDS AND APPRENTICESHIP FOR THE STATE OF MINNESOTA;

HE SAYS THERE ARE CURRENTLY TWELVE THOUSAND REGISTERED APPRENTICES IN THE STATE.

 

THE CITY OF ROSEAU’S POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS SENT LETTERS TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS ON THE CLEANUP LIST;  AND THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL  (THIS MONTH)  WAS TOLD CITATIONS WILL BE ISSUED NEXT TO PROPERTY OWNERS WHO HAVEN’T RESPONDED TO THOSE LETTERS.

 

‘WIC’  CLINICS ARE TODAY IN WARREN;  TOMORROW IN KARLSTAD; AND WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AT LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER IN ROSEAU.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  LAST MONTH,  APPROVED SEEKING STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE FOUNDATION  GRANT DOLLARS  TO HELP FAMILIES THAT CAN’T AFFORD TO PARTICIPATE IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS THIS EVENING;  THEY CONTINUE WORKING ON BUILDING PLANS FOR A HIGH SCHOOL RENOVATION PROJECT,  WITH A REFERENDUM PLANNED FOR 2020.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR BERYL BAILEY OF ROOSEVELT IS FRIDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT THE WARROAD BAPTIST CHURCH.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED ADVERTISING FOR AN EXTENSION COMMITTEE REPLACEMENT FOR MATT ULWELLING,  WHOSE TERM EXPIRES AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

 

MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ HAS  APPOINTED  KEN MOORMAN OF BAUDETTE TO THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL ON MENTAL HEALTH.   MOORMAN IS A FORMER LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTY COMMISSIONER.

 

THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WARROAD SUMMER THEATRE BOARD IS TOMORROW EVENING  (6:30 PM)  AT THE HUB IN WARROAD.

IT’S OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.    THREE BOARD POSITIONS ARE UP FOR ELECTION.
