A GROUP OF ABOUT EIGHT-FIVE VETERANS LEFT FARGO YESTERDAY ON A CHARTERED PLANE TO WASHINGTON, D.C. WHERE THEY’LL TOUR WAR MEMORIALS AND OTHER LANDMARKS IN THE NATION’S CAPITOL. ONE OF THOSE VETS IS BOB FOLEY OF ROSEAU.

 

THE WARROAD FIRE DEPARTMENT CLAIMED THE FIRST PLACE PLAQUE AT SATURDAY’S BARBEQUE RIB COOKOFF IN ROSEAU. THE EVENT WAS SPONSORED BY THE ROSEAU MASONIC LODGE AND SHRINERS. THE ROSEAU FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME IN SECOND IN A SIXTEEN TEAM FUNDRAISER.

 

THE FINAL SHOW IN THE CURRENT NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SEASON WAS FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE, FEATURING THE SONS OF SERENDIP. THE 2019/2020 SEASON STARTS NEXT SEPTEMBER WITH THE ANNIE MOSES BAND OUT OF NASHVILLE. OTHER SHOWS IN THE NEXT SEASON INCLUDE A CHICAGO TRIBUTE BAND.

 

THE MINNESOTA D.N.R. WILL POST WINNERS OF THE BLACK BEAR HUNTING LOTTERY STARTING TODAY AT THE AGENCY’S WEBSITE.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, EARLIER THIS MONTH, TALKED ABOUT A LACK OF AVAILABLE BUILDING LOTS IN THE CITY.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON SAID THERE ARE FOUR AREAS AVAILABLE FOR HOUSING DEVELOPMENT WITHIN CITY LIMITS; TWO HAVE SOME INFRASTRUCTURE;
AND PETERSON SAYS THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE LOTS FOR THE “CITY TO GROW ARE BECOMING FEWER”.
PETERSON AND THE COUNCIL AGREED THE FIRST STEP IN THE PROCESS WOULD BE LAND ACQUISITION.

CONSTRUCTION ON TWO HIGHWAY 59 BRIDGES EAST OF ERSKINE STARTS TODAY. CREWS HAVE BEGUN RE-CONSTRUCTION WORK IN THE CITY OF ERSKINE. HIGHWAY 59 TRAFFIC WILL BE DETOURED TO McINTOSH.
HIGHWAY 71 CONSTRUCTION FROM BLACKDUCK TO THE KOOCHICHING COUNTY LINE STARTS TODAY. TRAFFIC WILL BE DETOURED ONTO HIGHWAYS 72 AND 1.
