THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, LAST WEEK, HEARD ABOUT A REGIONAL WORKFORCE INITIATIVE MEETING; INVOLVING PRIVATE EMPLOYERS LIKE POLARIS INDUSTRIES, MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS, CENTRAL BOILER AND LAKEWOOD HEALTH CENTER IN BAUDETTE.
A CONSULTING FIRM CALLED “GOLDEN SHOVEL” IS PROPOSING PROACTIVE PROMOTION AND MARKETING OF ROSEAU AND LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTIES TO PROSPECTIVE NEW RESIDENTS.

ORIANE CASALE, AN ASSISTANT DIRECTOR AT THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, SAYS THE REASON IS BABY BOOMER RETIREMENTS COMBINED WITH A STRONG ECONOMY.

 

THE MINNESOTA BUSINESS TAX EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP HAS A SEMINAR WEDNESDAY MORNING (8:30 A.M. to Noon) AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER ON EMPLOYMENT TAX BASICS AND UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE.
OTHER SEMINARS ARE TOMORROW AT RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN INTERNATIONAL FALLS; AND THURSDAY AT NORTHLAND COLLEGE IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.

TODAY IS THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS; THE ANNUAL LIST STARTED IN 2016.

 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR BILL HAGEN OF RURAL SALOL IS THIS MORNING AT ELEVEN AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. BURIAL IS AT SPRUCE CEMETERY AT A LATER DATE.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR BARRY WESTERLUND OF BAUDETTE IS TOMORROW MORNING AT ELEVEN AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BAUDETTE.
VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. MILITARY HONORS ARE BY THE BAUDETTE VETERANS CEREMONIAL SQUAD.

A TWENTY-FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR VERNON PICK FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP WAS GIVEN TO LUKE TANGEN;
KIANA FLAIG AND MADICYN HOLMGREN RECEIVED THE ALLISON MARVIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS;
AND BOYS AND GIRLS STATE DELEGATES TO STATE CONVENTIONS THIS SUMMER ARE CHLOE JOHNSON AND JACOB KALLIS.

 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR KENNETH PHILPOT OF ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA (AND FORMERLY OF BAUDETTE) WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE AT SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH IN BAUDETTE.
KENNETH PHILPOT WAS 58.

 

38 YEAR OLD JASON WILLIAMS OF FOSSTON WAS TAKEN TO A THIEF RIVER FALLS HOSPITAL WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AFTER A SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT LAST NIGHT AT ABOUT 10:20 P.M. ON HIGHWAY 59, SOUTH OF NEWFOLDEN.
WILLIAMS WAS NORTHBOUND, WENT OFF THE ROAD AND ROLLED, HITTING A POWER POLE.
