ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HOME BUILDERS, THE PRICE OF LUMBER HAS TRIPLED SINCE APRIL 2020. THIS ADDS AN ESTIMATED $35,000 TO THE PRICE OF A SINGLE-FAMILY HOME, BUT LOW INTEREST RATES ARE KEEPING CONTRACTORS AND DO-IT-YOURSELFERS BUSY AT A TIME WHEN SUPPLIERS ARE SCRAMBLING TO KEEP BUILDING MATERIALS IN STOCK. TRENT PEABODY, PRESIDENT OF LUMBER MART INC.  SAYS “WE’RE IN UNCHARTED TERRITORY WHEN IT COMES TO THE HISTORIC LEVELS THAT WE’RE SEEING NOW.”

 

TWO JUVENILES WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND ARE FACING CHARGES AFTER LEADING MULTIPLE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ON A 103-MILE CHASE THAT SPANNED FROM PEMBINA TO OUTSIDE OF FARGO. DEPUTY IN PEMBINA OBSERVED A SPEEDING PICKUP THAT WAS REPORTED AS STOLEN FROM HARWOOD, N.D. WHEN THE DEPUTY ATTEMPTED A TRAFFIC STOP THE TRUCK FLED. NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE PURSUIT.

 

RECENTLY, THE CITY OF FORT ERIE, ONTARIO SENT A LETTER TO ROSEAU ASKING U.S. AND CANADA BORDER CITIES TO LOBBY WITH THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT TO RE-OPEN THE BORDER, WHICH HAS BEEN CLOSED TO AMERICANS FOR ABOUT A YEAR.

 

THE CITY OF ROSEAU WILL BE WORKING WITH THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT AS THE CONTRACTOR FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A KAYAK LAUNCH ON THE ROSEAU RIVER., JUST SOUTH OF THE CENTER STREET BRIDGE.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR BARBARA M. MCFARLANE OF ROSEAU, MN WILL BE HELD ON THIS AFTERNOON AT 1:00 PM AT MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU, MN. INTERMENT WILL BE AT BARNETT NATIONAL CEMETERY IN BADGER, MN.

MOTORISTS ON HIGHWAY 2 WEST OF BEMIDJI CAN EXPECT SHORT-TERM DELAYS AND LANE CLOSURES AS CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON MAY 10. THERE WILL BE A SHORT-TERM DETOUR THROUGH EARLY JUNE.
