THE ANNUAL ROSEAU CIVIC AND COMMERCE BANQUET IS THIS EVENING AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER.

MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI IS AMONG THE SPEAKERS;  HE SAYS ROSEAU IS POSITIONED WELL FOR IMMEDIATE FUTURE INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDS.

MOST OF ROSEAU’S INFRASTRUCTURE,  INCLUDING STREETS,  WAS REPLACED AFTER THE  2002 FLOOD.

 

GREG CROWE,  WITH THE ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT’S  FINANCIAL ADVISORS  (EHLERS AND ASSOCIATES)  WAS AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETING LAST MONDAY;

EXPLAINING THE PROPERTY TAX IMPACT OF A MAY BUILDING RENOVATION REFERENDUM.

CROWE SAID THE IMPACT HAS BEEN REDUCED IN PART DUE TO FALLING MUNICIPAL BOND RATES;

BUT ALSO SAID THE DISTRICT SHOULD STRESS THE NECESSITY OF THE PROJECT.

 

THE RED RIVER FARM NETWORK SAYS MINNESOTA CORN PRODUCTION IN  2019 WAS DOWN SEVEN PERCENT FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR,  AND YIELDS WERE DOWN AS WELL.

SOYBEAN PRODUCTION DECLINED THREE PERCENT,  AND THE SUGARBEET CROP WAS DOWN TWENTY PERCENT FROM  2018.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HAS ACCEPTED AN ELEVEN THOUSAND DOLLAR SNOWMOBILE SAFETY ENFORCEMENT GRANT.

ROSEAU IS ONE OF SIXTY-FOUR COUNTIES IN THE STATE WITH A SIMILAR GRANT;

WHICH SHERIFF STEVE GUST SAYS IS MOST USED IN BELTRAMI ISLAND STATE FOREST.

 

CHILDREN’S ADVOCATES IN MINNESOTA SAY SOME COMMUNITIES ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND QUALITY PROGRAMMING FOR KIDS AFTER THE SCHOOL DAY,

DUE TO YEARS OF GOVERNMENT AND PHILANTHROPIC FUNDING CUTS.

IT’S BEEN A DECADE SINCE THE STATE PROVIDED FUNDING FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR KEVIN WILLIAMSON OF GATZKE ARE THIS AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.

KEVIN  WILLIAMSON WAS  60.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR KENNETH  SENZEK OF WILLIAMS IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN WILLIAMS.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.

KENNETH  SENZEK  WAS  74.

 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE FOR MELISSA  GUILLEMETTE-PETERSON OF RED LAKE FALLS  IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN RED LAKE FALLS.   VISITATION IS FRIDAY EVENING AT THE CHURCH.

MISSI GUILLEMETTE-PETERSON WAS   47.

 

NO SERVICES ARE SCHEDULED FOR LEONA GOOD OF HOLT,  MICHIGAN.   THE FORMER GATZKE AND STRATHCONA TEACHER WAS  91.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY IS STILL DIGGING OUT FROM A WEEKEND SNOWSTORM THAT DROPPED FOUR INCHES IN THE COUNTY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS THE HIGHEST SNOW TOTAL IN THE REGION WAS  ELEVEN INCHES IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.

 

56 YEAR OLD KYLE HEGNA OF CHASKA WAS KILLED LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON WHILE CROSSING HIGHWAY 169 IN AITKIN COUNTY ON HIS POLARIS INDY SNOWMOBILE.   HEGNA WAS STRUCK BY A PICKUP DRIVEN BY 37  YEAR OLD AARON HORNER OF PALISADE, MINNESOTA.

 

CENTRAL BOILER OF GREENBUSH HAS ACQUIRED THE WOODMASTER BRAND OF OUTDOOR FURNACES.
