THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS PROPOSING TO LIFT RESTRICTIONS ON  COAL FIRED POWER PLANTS,INCLUDING THE REGULATION OF THE USE OF COAL ASH AS A SOIL REPLACEMENT IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS.

THE LAW FIRM EARTH/JUSTICE SAYS COAL ASH IS A TOXIC CONTAMINANT.

MINNESOTA HAS THIRTY-FOUR COAL ASH PONDS AT TEN OF IT’S SEVENTEEN COAL BURNING PLANTS.

THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE IS OFFERING EXTENSIONS FOR EXPIRING  CONSERVATION RESERVE PROGRAM CONTRACTS.

DUSTIN SPAETH IS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR FARM SERVICE AGENCY OFFICES IN ROSEAU,  LAKE OF THE WOODS AND KOOCHICHING COUNTIES.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR VICTOR KAML OF GREENBUSH ARE THIS MORNING AT TEN AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH OF GREENBUSH.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.  BURIAL IS AT BETHEL CEMETERY.

A PUBLIC VISITATION FOR WILLIAM  “BILL”  McDONALD OF WARROAD IS WEDNESDAY EVENING  (5-7 PM)  FOLLOWED BY A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE AT SEVEN  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.

BILL McDONALD WAS  56.

 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MONA BEYER OF BAUDETTE ARE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BAUDETTE.

MONA BEYER WAS  87.

 

MOTORISTS CAN EXPECT SHORT TERM LANE CLOSURES ON SOME NORTHERN MINNESOTA HIGHWAYS TODAY,  AS ROAD WEATHER INFORMATION SYSTEMS ARE INSTALLED.   NINE LOCATIONS WILL BE AFFECTED,  INCLUDING HIGHWAY ELEVEN NEAR WARROAD, HIGHWAY ONE NEAR GOODRIDGE, HIGHWAY 59 NEAR BOTH LANCASTER AND THIEF RIVER FALLS,  AND HIGHWAY 89 NEAR RED LAKE.  THERE ARE 98 OF THOSE ROAD WEATHER SYSTEMS,  USED BY MINN-DOT,  WITH ANOTHER 62 TO BE ADDED OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS.
