THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED NEW ASSESSMENT RATES FOR TOWNSHIPS AS THE COUNTY MOVES TO A TRUE COUNTY SYSTEM OF ASSESSING PROPERTY VALUES.
THE COUNTY APPROVED MOSTLY ONE DOLLAR PER PARCEL INCREASES.

 

THE ROSEAU FARM SERVICE AGENCY OFFICE IS TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE FEDERAL MARKET FACILITATION PROGRAM,
WHICH IS PAYING FARMERS IN ROSEAU COUNTY UP TO FORTY-THREE DOLLARS AN ACRE TO HELP OFFSET THE IMPACTS OF THE CURRENT TARIFF WAR.
DUSTIN SPAETH IS AT THE ROSEAU  F.S.A. OFFICE, HE SAYS THE FIRST  HALF-PAYMENTS ARE EXPECTED LATE THIS FALL,  WITH THE REMAINDER IN  2020 IF THE TARIFF TROUBLES CONTINUE.

 

MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ ANNOUNCED SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS LAST WEEK,  INCLUDING NEIL PETERSON OF ST HILAIRE TO THE BOARD OF WATER AND SOIL RESOURCES.  PETERSON IS A PENNINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST NIGHT,  APPROVED THE HIRE OF SARA HAMMANN AS PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR.  THERE WERE TEN APPLICANTS FOR THE JOB, WHICH HAS BEEN VACANT SINCE THE RESIGNATION OF KATY SPODEN EARLIER THIS YEAR.
HAMMANN IS ORIGINALLY FROM GRAND RAPIDS,  MINNESOTA.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED AN AMENDED PUBLIC WORKS BUDGET FOR AN IMPROVED HEATING SYSTEM AT MEMORIAL ARENA.  THE APPROXIMATE  48 THOUSAND DOLLAR PROJECT WOULD CREATE A DIRECT HEAT SYSTEM SIMILAR TO ONE IN PLACE AT THE RAMS SPORTS CENTER.
CITY SUPERINTENDENT DAVID DROWN SAID THE SYSTEM WOULD BE MORE EFFICIENT,  AND WOULD PUT LESS PRESSURE ON THE THREE COMPRESSORS AT THE CITY RINK.

A  20TH  ANNUAL  ST JUDE TRAIL AND WAGON RIDE IS SEPTEMBER 28TH AT BEMIS HILL CAMPGROUND.
PROCEEDS GO TO THE ST JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL.

A 7th ANNUAL ROSEAU ART AND WINE WALK IS TOMORROW, THAT’S SPONSORED BY THE ROSEAU CIVIC & COMMERCE.

THE ROSEAU VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS FUNDRAISING BARBEQUE AND BALL TO TOMORROW. DINNER IS AT FIVE AT THE FIREHALL, WITH A DANCE TO FOLLOW AT THE LEGION.

THERE WILL BE TAILGATE PARTIES PRIOR TO TONIGHT’S FOOTBALL GAMES FOR BOTH ROSEAU AND B-G-MR. THOSE BEGIN AT 5:30, AHEAD OF 7:00 KICKOFFS.
