THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  APPROVED THE POTENTIAL SALE OF ABOUT  330 ACRES OF PRIVATE LAND IN THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT’S  W.M.A. FLOOD DAMAGE REDUCTION PROJECT TO THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.

ROSEAU RIVER  WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA MANAGER RANDY PRACHAR SAID THE  D.N.R. HASN’T STARTED NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE PRIVATE LANDOWNERS.

THE COUNTY BOARD DEVIATED FROM IT’S  NO-NET LOSS POLICY IN SUPPORTING THE LAND SALE TO THE STATE OF MINNESOTA.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD, THIS WEEK, HEARD THAT WATER ISSUES IN THE BAND ROOM HAVE FORCED THE BAND TO MOVE TO THE SCHOOL THEATRE;  AND THAT THERE ARE NO SHORT-TERM SOLUTIONS TO WATER PROBLEMS AT THE SCHOOL.

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACING DRAIN TILE ALONG PARTS OF THE ELEMENTARY BUILDING,  DUE TO WATER SEEPAGE IN A KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM.

 

AFTER MORE THAN TWO YEARS OF GROWTH,  THE VOLUME OF REAL ESTATE FARM DEBT DECLINED IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF THIS YEAR.

THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF KANSAS CITY SAYS THE PACE OF WEAK AG CREDIT CONDITIONS HAS SLOWED.

 

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR SYLVESTER HEMP OF MIDDLE RIVER IS MONDAY AFTERNOON AT THREE AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN MIDDLE RIVER.   VISITATION IS SUNDAY AFTERNOON  (3-6 PM)  AT JOHNSON FUNERAL SERVICE IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR FORMER WARROAD MAYOR GARY HENDRICKSON OF MOORHEAD IS THIS MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF CHRIST THE KING IN MOORHEAD.   VISITATION IS  AN HOUR PRIOR.

GARY HENDRICKSON WAS  78.

 

STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAN FABIAN  (R/ ROSEAU) HAS JOINED OTHER HOUSE REPUBLICANS IN SENDING A LETTER TO MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ,  REQUESTING A FLOOD EMERGENCY DECLARATION.

THE LETTER ALSO ASKS THE GOVERNOR’S HELP IN SEEKING A FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARATION.

A GOVERNOR’S EXECUTIVE ORDER AND A FEDERAL DECLARATION WOULD CREATE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR FARMERS,

AND HELP WITH EMERGENCY ROAD REPAIR COSTS.

 

A ONE-WOMAN THEATRICAL PRESENTATION CALLED  “VOTES FOR WOMEN, JA!” IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON  (1:30 PM)  AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER.    JANE SKINNER PECK’S PRESENTATION IS ON THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF SCANDINAVIAN IMMIGRANT SUFFRAGISTS TO THE VOTING RIGHTS MOVEMENT IN MINNESOTA.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY TEAM ‘EPIC’  AND THE ROSEAU COUNTY 4H  STATE TO STATE EXCHANGE ARE SPONSORING HALLOWEEN DANCES THIS EVENING AT THE 4H BUILDING AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS;

WITH GRADES FOUR THROUGH SIX FROM 5:30 TO 7:30;  AND GRADES SEVEN THROUGH TWELVE FROM EIGHT TO TEN P.M.

 

MANY  ROSEAU COUNTY FARMERS  ARE BATTLING FLOODING LATE IN THE HARVEST SEASON,  AFTER RECORD RAINFALL IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER.

WARROAD SUMMER THEATRE’S PRODUCTION OF  “ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT”  CONTINUES THROUGH TOMORROW AT ROCK HARBOR LODGE,  IN A DINNER THEATRE FORMAT.
