THE MOBILE HOME MUST BE OCCUPIED BY THE OWNER OR A RELATIVE PRIOR TO THE END OF MAY TO QUALIFY.

 

THE MINNESOTA PUBLIC FACILITIES AUTHORITY HAS APPROVED MORE THAN TWENTY-EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS IN LOANS AND GRANTS FOR WATER INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN GREATER MINNESOTA,

INCLUDING  TWO-POINT-TWO MILLION FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF HYDRANTS AND WATERMAINS IN FERTILE.

 

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR LOREN NICHOLS OF BAUDETTE ARE TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT ONE AT THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING WATER IN BAUDETTE.   VISITATION IS THIS EVENING  (6-8 PM)  AT THE CHURCH.   BURIAL IS IN THE VETERANS SECTION OF ELM PARK CEMETERY IN BAUDETTE.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR HARLAN GREENE OF WARROAD IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT ONE  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD.  MILITARY HONORS ARE BY THE WARROAD AMERICAN LEGION.

HARLAN GREENE WAS  92.

 

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR JOYCE NEWCOM OF WARROAD IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT FOUR  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD.    VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.  BURIAL IS AT RIVERSIDE CEMETERY.

JOYCE NEWCOM WAS  76.

 

A PROPOSAL AT THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE WOULD CONTINUE THE GOOD FOOD ACCESS PROGRAM,  WHICH IS DESIGNED TO ADDRESS  “FOOD DESERTS” IN RURAL PARTS OF THE STATE.

COREY CHRISTIANSON,  FROM  K-C’S  COUNTRY MARKETS IN BADGER AND GREENBUSH,  SAYS GRANTS FROM THAT PROGRAM ALLOWED HIM TO DO COOLER,  DELI AND REFRIGERATOR UPGRADES.

 

NEXT WEEK IS NATIONAL NURSES WEEK,  AND THE PERSONAL FINANCE WEBSITE    WalletHub  SAYS MINNESOTA IS THE SECOND BEST STATE FOR NURSES,  BASED ON CRITERIA LIKE STARTING SALARIES,  TO JOB OPENINGS, TO HEALTH CARE FACILITIES PER CAPITA.

OREGON IS NUMBER ONE;  THE REST OF THE TOP FIVE STATES ARE WASHINGTON,  NEW MEXICO AND MAINE.

ROSEAU FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD GRADERS HAVE THEIR SPRING MUSIC PROGRAM NEXT THURSDAY  (May 9/ Ten & Two)  AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE.

THE FOURTH, FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADERS HAVE THEIR PROGRAM THE FOLLOWING THURSDAY  (May 16).

 

THE  20TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROSEAU’S  A.L.S.  WALK AND RUN IS JULY 20TH.

THIS YEAR’S EVENT HONORS FATHER DON BRAUKMANN,  A BEMIDJI PRIEST WHO HAS SERVED PARISHES IN WARROAD,  BAUDETTE AND GREENBUSH.

 

INTERVIEWS FOR THE ROSEAU SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT POSITION CONTINUE THIS EVENING;  THERE ARE FOUR FINALISTS FOR THE JOB BEING VACATED BY LARRY GUGGISBERG IN JULY.

 

ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT RESIDENTS SHOULD RECEIVE A SURVEY FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD THIS WEEK ASKING FOR THEIR PERSPECTIVE ON A PROPOSED BUILDING OR RENOVATION PROJECT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

IT’S THE FIRST TIME THE DISTRICT HAS SOUGHT PUBLIC OPINION PRIOR TO A REFERENDUM.

A SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND VOTE IS POSSIBLE THIS NOVEMBER.

 

THE ROSEAU/ LAKE OF THE WOODS SPORTSMANS CLUB HAS A MEMBERSHIP DRIVE AND FISH FRY TOMORROW EVENING  (4-7 PM)  AT THE HAWK IN ROOSEVELT.

 

SPRING BURNING RESTRICTIONS WENT INTO EFFECT IN ROSEAU AND NEIGHBORING COUNTIES MONDAY.

FISHER SAYS THE D.N.R. WILL ONLY ISSUE VARIANCE BURNING PERMITS,  ESPECIALLY FOR AG BURNING,  DURING THE RESTRICTION PERIOD.

 

AN ARTISTS RECEPTION IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON  (1-4 PM)  AT THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS GALLERY IN EAST GRAND FORKS,  HONORING CATHY FORGIT OF FERTILE;  AND JEAN HONL OF ROSEAU.

HONL WAS RECENTLY NAMED NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTIST OF THE YEAR.
