WINTER TRUCK LOAD INCREASES START SUNDAY ON STATE HIGHWAYS IN THE CENTRAL FROST ZONE.

WINTER LOAD INCREASES STARTED THIS WEEK IN THE NORTH FROST ZONE.

 

THE MINNESOTA   D.N.R.  AND EXPLORE MINNESOTA ARE LAUNCHING A NEW OUTDOOR RECREATION TASK FORCE,

WHICH WILL MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS ABOUT HOW THE STATE CAN CONNECT MORE PEOPLE TO OUTDOOR RECREATION,  AND BETTER SUPPORT A THRIVING OUTDOOR RECREATION ECONOMY.

THEY’RE LOOKING FOR TWENTY TASK FORCE MEMBERS; THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JANUARY 10TH.

 

THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE HAS AWARDED MORE THAN TWENTY-TWO MILLION DOLLARS OF  GRANT AND LOAN FUNDING  TO HELP MINNESOTA FARMERS AND RURAL BUSINESSES REDUCE ENERGY COSTS THROUGH THE RURAL ENERGY FOR AMERICA PROGRAM.

MUCH OF THE MONEY IN THE STATE WILL BE USED FOR SOLAR ENERGY PROJECTS.

THE MINNESOTA ASSOCIATION OF TOWNSHIPS HAS ANNOUNCED IT’S 2020 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM,  WITH FIVE  TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE.   THAT PROGRAM HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE SINCE  2001.

THERE ARE MORE THAN THIRTY ORGANIZED TOWNSHIPS IN ROSEAU COUNTY,  AND NEARLY EIGHTEEN HUNDRED IN MINNESOTA.

 

THE CITY OF ROSEAU IS PROJECTING END-OF-YEAR CASH IN THE BANK OF APPROXIMATELY  SEVEN-POINT-SIX MILLION DOLLARS.   THE CITY’S RESERVES HAVE GROWN OVER THE PAST DECADE DESPITE A FROZEN PROPERTY TAX LEVY SINCE  2008.

 

THE BADGER SCHOOL’S  WINTER CONCERT IS MONDAY EVENING  (7 PM)  PRECEDED BY A MEAL AND BENEFIT,  WITH PROCEEDS GOING TO THE BADGER MUSIC DEPARTMENT.

FOOD SHELVES ACROSS MINNESOTA ARE SEEKING DONATIONS TO HELP PEOPLE SURVIVE THE WINTER MONTHS,  ESPECIALLY CASH DONATIONS.

COLLEEN MORIARTY, WITH HUNGER SOLUTIONS MINNESOTA,  SAYS MANY OF THE USERS OF FOOD SHELVES ARE THE WORKING POOR.
