A celebration of life for Iden J. Magnusson of Roseau will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service. The service will be recorded and will be available to view on the Helgeson website after the service.

Iden J. Magnusson slipped away peacefully on September 13, 2021 at his home in Roseau at the age of 68. His beloved dogs Badu and Riley were by his side. Iden was born the second of five children to Iden J. (Jimmy) and June (Ganyo) Magnusson.

Iden graduated with the Roseau High School Class of 1971. He attended Alexandria Tech, studying Tool and Die. Iden worked on Ray McMillin’s boat crew harvesting crabs in Florida, and in Bruton, MN building snowmobiles. He worked in Alaska and Seattle and was stationed at the DNR Wildlife Refuge northwest of Roseau for a time and most recently he owned and operated Mag’s Repair. Russell Berger was a great mentor and was thrilled to turn over his business repairing electric motors to Iden. Russell was his right hand man when he needed help. Arlen Sandland also taught him to repair and maintain electric starters, generators, and alternators. Iden had a tremendous appetite for reading anything and everything he could get his hands on. Mother Earth News was a favorite magazine of his. Iden was a colorful character and once you met him, you did not forget him. He was not afraid to help anyone in need and in turn, when he needed help, his buddies were only a phone call away to help solve a problem. He loved having coffee with his friends and getting caught up on the latest news. He was an animal lover and his two dogs looked forward to their daily ride to the family land in Duxby. He was known as “Uncle Idey” to his nieces and nephews.

Left to mourn his sudden passing are siblings Kathryn Timinskis (Ben Scheel), Michelle Slater (Gary), and Joseph Magnusson (Vicki). He is also survived by nieces and nephews Bridget, Hunter, Ethan, Suzanne and Candace and great nieces and nephews Dylan, Millie, Laila, Addie and Luke.

He was preceded in death by his parents Iden J. (Jimmy) and June; sister Patricia and a nephew.
