Floyd Junior Haugen passed away December 23, 2020 at the LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau, MN at the age of 85.

Floyd was born on the family farm in Badger, MN to Harry and Emma (Nelson) Haugen. As a young boy, he was very active in the farm, 4-H with Roseau County Fair and the State Fair, and youth group at his church. Floyd married the love of his life, Ruby (Johnson), on December 21, 1956. They just celebrated their 64th Anniversary! His life-long work as a farmer brought him peace and happiness. Floyd was so proud that the land he cultivated with such care will continue to grow with future generations.

Community involvement was a big part of Floyd’s life; including church council and President; the Township Board as assessor, supervisor and chairman, Roseau County ASCS-FSA for many years (including weather monitor), head judge for election polls, Township Fire Warden, manager on the Roseau River Watershed Board, a founding member of Roseau International Watershed, and was influential in lobbying Washington D.C. for disaster relief for the farming community in Roseau County.

Floyd was proud of his Norwegian heritage and traveled back to Norway to visit the place where his father was born. He had a special love for his grandkids; and loved hunting and spending time in the outdoors. He built many buildings in the area and enjoyed being a carpenter. He always took great pride in his workmanship and in everything he did. Those who knew Floyd, know his attention to detail was unmatched. Blessed be his memory.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Badger; daughter, Minda (Elliott) Sadlowski of Moorhead; son, Brent (Paula) Haugen of Badger; grandchildren, Erik, Trevor, Ryan and Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ella, Jalmer, and Elmer.
