Warroad Advances in the Minnesota Sings Competition

09/29/2020

State Competition will be held virtually on September 29, 2020

Warroad, MN – September 28, 2020 – Warroad Sings is an annual vocal talent competition that has become a summertime staple in Warroad since its inception in 2015. Even though this year required the competition to move into a virtual format, nine talented vocalists still participated by submitting video entries on the Facebook page of the host, Warroad Community Partners. A panel of judges from outside the area evaluated and scored each contestant on their vocal and performance skills and community members voted for their favorite performers via Facebook reactions.

In Division 1: Ages 13-20, Bethany Warkentin placed first and Allison Bratlie placed second. In Division 2: Ages 21+, Annamarie Wells placed first and Ashley Thorson placed second. All of these local winners advanced to the state Minnesota Sings Competition, along with winning local cash prizes.  There was also a People’s Choice winner, Samantha Van Lo, who was awarded a local cash prize.

The Minnesota Sings Competition has also opted to go virtual this year with nearly fifty competitors from across the state submitting videos to their YouTube Channel. You can view all the contestant videos by searching Minnesota Sings on YouTube.

Vocalists are competing for the following prizes in each division.

First Place: $3,000 Cash
Second Place: $2,000 Cash
Third Place: $1,000 Cash
Fourth and Fifth Place: Recording session at The Garage in Burnsville, MN.

The state finals will be live streamed on the Hastings Community TV Channel on YouTube on Tuesday, September 98th at 8:00 pm.
