Today’s Covid-19 Update for Sunday, November 15 2020

11/15/2020

Roseau County has 742 Positive Cases; with 28 new cases reported today; and 1 accumulated death.

There are now more than 50,700 active cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota after the state health department reported 7,559 new cases on Sunday, which marks the second-highest single-day total. The high mark during the pandemic was set Saturday with 8,703 cases.

The update includes 31 more deaths, bringing the state’s total since mid-March to 2,905. Of those, 1,999 were residents of long-term care facilities, including 18 of the 31 newly reported deaths.

The state has reported 448 deaths in the first 15 days of November compared to 423 in all of October.

The 7,559 positive results in Sunday’s update were from a total of 63,593 completed tests, creating a daily test positivity rate of 11.88%. It’s the most tests Minnesota has completed in a 24-hour reporting period.

Those completed tests were from 32,028 people. People are often tested more than once, so the test positivity rate when dividing positives by people tested is 23.6% today.

The World Health Organization recommended in May that a percent positive rate (total positives divided by total completed tests) of below 5% for at least two weeks is necessary to safely reopen the economy. That 5% threshold is based on total positives divided by total tests.

According to Johns Hopkins University, Minnesota’s percent positive over the past seven days is 14.21%.

Statewide:

  • Total tests: 3,421,682 (up from 3,356,392)
  • People tested: 2,148,661 (up from 2,116,633)
  • Positive cases: 223,581 (up from 216,028)
  • Deaths: 2,905 – 44 of which are “probable*” (up from 2,874)
  • Active cases: 50,703
  • Patients no longer requiring isolation: 172,873 (up from 167,234)
