IT’S 7 STRAIGHT WINS FOR THE AMERICAN LEAGUE OVER THE NATIONAL LEAGUE IN THE MLB ALL-STAR GAME. THE RANGERS JOEY GALLO ADDED WHAT FELT LIKE AN INSURANCE RUN WITH A SOLO HOMER IN THE 7TH INNING, BUT IT TURNS OUT THEY NEEDED IT. PETE ALONSO DROVE IN A PAIR FOR THE NATIONAL LEAGUE IN THE 8TH TO MAKE IT A 4-3 GAME, BUT AROLDIS CHAPMAN WOULD SLAM THE DOOR SHUT IN THE 9TH.

THE TWINS PLAYERS, JOSE BERRIOS PITCHED A SHUTOUT INNING, AND JORGE POLANCO HAD AN INFIELD RBI SINGLE.

GREG JOHNSON, FORMER UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA HOCKEY CAPTAIN AND THE PROGRAM’S ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER, DIED MONDAY.

JOHNSON, THE ONLY THREE-TIME HOBEY BAKER AWARD FINALIST IN UND HISTORY, SCORED A SCHOOL RECORD 272 POINTS IN HIS FOUR SEASONS AT UND, FROM 1989-1993. HE WON A SILVER MEDAL AT THE ’94 OLYMPICS AND HAD A 12 YEAR NHL CAREER.
