A ROSEAU GIRLS BASKETBALL GAME TODAY AGAINST PARK RAPIDS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

WITH NHL PLAYERS NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE UPCOMING WINTER OLYMPICS, MINNESOTA WILD GENERAL MANGER BILL GUERIN WILL NO LONGER BE BUILDING THE OLYMPIC ROSTER, THAT WILL LIKELY FALL ON THE SHOULDERS OF JOHN VANBIESBROUCK. HE’LL PULL FROM MINOR LEAGUE TEAMS, OTHER PROFESSIONAL LEAGUES THAT ARE NOT THE NHL, AND NCAA ROSTERS. UND’S JAKE SANDERSON IS A NAME LIKELY TO BE CONSIDERED, BUT THE NCAA SEASON WILL NOT PAUSE FOR THE OLYMPICS, MEANING PLAYERS WILL MISS TIME WITH THEIR COLLEGE TEAMS.

THE CALGARY FLAMES ARE PULLING OUT OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY ON A PLAN TO BUILD A NEW ARENA. THEY CITE INCREASED COST SINCE THAT AGREEMENT WAS MADE TWO YEARS AGO. THE ORIGINAL COST WAS APPROXIMATELY $550 MILLION AND IS NOW ESTIMATED AT $634 MILLION. THE FLAMES HAVE PLAYED IN THE SADDLEDOME FOR 38 YEARS.
