MOORHEAD WILL REPRESENT SECTION 8AA AT THE MINNESOTA STATE BOYS HOCKEY TOURNAMENT, AFTER THE SPUDS DEFEATED THE ROSEAU RAMS 5-1 LAST NIGHT IN THE SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP.

MAPLE GROVE THUMPED CENTENNIAL IN THE ONLY OTHER REMAINING SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP.

WARROAD CLAWED BACK FROM A 4-1 THIRD PERIOD DEFICIT TO FORCE OVERTIME IN THE SECTION 8A CHAMPIONSHIP, BUT IT WILL BE EAST GRAND FORKS REPRESENTING THE SECTION, AFTER BRODY SCHULTZ SCORED TWO MINUTES INTO THE SECOND OVERTIME.

HERMANTOWN EASILY BEAT DULUTH-DENFELD FOR THE SECTION 7A CHAMPIONSHIP. NORTHERN LAKES, LITTLE FALLS, AND GENTRY ACADEMY ALL WON THEIR SECTION TO FILL OUT THE REST OF THE CLASS A STATE TOURNAMENT FIELD.

 

WARROAD HAS THE 11 AM GAME TODAY IN THE CLASS A GIRLS STATE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT, THEIR OPPONENT IS ROCHESTER LOURDES. SHOULD THEY ADVANCE, THEY’LL MAKE A RETURN TRIP TO THE CITIES NEXT WEEK FOR THE SEMIFINALS WHERE THEY WOULD MEET EITHER LUVERNE OR PROCTOR-HERMANTOWN.

 

THE GATORS ARE CHAMPIONS OF SECTION 8A IN BOYS BASKETBALL, DEFEATING CASS-LAKE 55-48. KOBY DALLAGER LED ALL SCORERS WITH 15 POINTS. AS OF THIS MORNING, THEIR QUARTERFINAL DATE, TIME, AND LOCATION ARE YET TO BE DETERMINED. THOSE BASKETBALL STATE TOURNAMENTS WILL NOT BE HELD AT THE TARGET CENTER UNTIL THE SEMIFINAL ROUND.

 

THE SECTION 8A GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP IS TODAY, WITH STEPHEN-ARGYLE MEETING CASS LAKE.

 

THE ROSEAU 12U GIRLS HOCKEY TEAM IS AT STATE WITH THEIR FIRST GAME THIS AFTERNOON AGAINST COTTAGE GROVE. THE 12U’S ADVANCED AS CHAMPIONS OF THEIR REGIONAL. WILD 102 WILL BROADCAST EACH OF THEIR GAMES THIS WEEKEND.

 

OPENING ROUND OF THE NCAA MEN’S HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE TODAY. NORTH DAKOTA PLAYS AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL IN FARGO. BEMIDJI STATE PLAYS WISCONSIN, AND MINNESOTA DULUTH SEES MICHIGAN.

 

THE MINNESOTA WILD BEAT THE ST. LOUIS BLUES 2-0 TO STRETCH THEIR FRANCHISE-RECORD HOME WINNING STREAK TO 11 STRAIGHT GAMES. KIRILL KAPRIZOV SCORED HIS 11TH GOAL TO PAD HIS NHL ROOKIE LEAD. CAM TALBOT MADE 37 SAVES FOR HIS SECOND SHUTOUT OF THE SEASON.
