Funeral services for Nicholas Delvecchio of Baudette, MN will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11 AM at the Lake of the Woods High School Gym.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at First Lutheran Church in Baudette.  Interment will be at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette.

Nicholas Giovanni Delvecchio “Nicky D” of Baudette, MN and Rainy River, Ontario, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the age of 17, at the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.

Nicholas was born on December 5, 2003 in Roseau, MN. He was known for his kind heart, sweetness, goofy personality, and his strength and courage. Nicholas left an everlasting impact impact on the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, even those who he had never met, just by hearing of his story.

Nicholas loved life. He enjoyed playing video games, swimming, golfing, playing guitar, fishing and camping, listening to music, dancing, and cooking with family.

Nicholas loved to make people laugh and to make those around him happy. He loved watching all kinds of sports, especially watching hockey with his dad. His favorite team however, was the Lake of the Woods Bears.

He faced many health challenges throughout his short life. In March of 2018 Nicholas was diagnosed with Leukemia and ultimately beat it in the fall of 2020. Nicholas kept his courage through everything. He fought hard and met each challenge with a “Hulk Strong” attitude. He made sure everyone around him felt loved and made sure we were the ones who felt “fine.”

Nicholas leaves behind his beloved parents, mom, Jackie, dad, Damon. He also leaves behind 3 sisters who have thought the world of their little brother since the day he was born, Nicole (32), Haylee (25), and Hannah (23). Nicholas leaves behind his niece Alivia (10 months), grandparents, Herman and Verlaine Rodrigues, John and Laurie Delvecchio, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family; step mother, Michelle, step siblings, Jammie, Cacey, Koral, and Wyatt, step grandparents, Woody and Peachy Dahl. And friends from his school and community.

He is preceded into death by his grandparents, Tom and Sandy Lechner, and uncle Tommy Lechner.
