FUNERAL SERVICES FOR KATHRYN OLSON OF ROSEAU ARE TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT THREE AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.  VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. KATHY  OLSON WAS  79.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  APPROVED THE HIRES OF PATRICK WENSLOFF AS AN EVENING CUSTODIAN  AND TRAVIS CARLSON AS A PARAPROFESSIONAL; AND ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF PARAPROFESSIONAL  KATELYN PEDERSON. THE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVED VIRTUAL PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES FOR NOVEMBER.   SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME  SAID THE COVID-RELATED MOVE FROM IN-PERSON CONFERENCES WAS “PRUDENT”.

MUCH OF ROSEAU COUNTY IS VOTING BY MAIL IN 2020.  THE ONLY IN-PERSON POLLING PLACES ARE IN THE CITIES OF WARROAD,  ROSEAU AND GREENBUSH;  MORANVILLE TOWNSHIP;  AND AT THE COUNTY COURTHOUSECOUNTY AUDITOR/RECORDER MARTIE MONSRUD SAYS MAIL BALLOTS WERE SENT TO ALL REGISTERED VOTERS IN MAIL BALLOT PRECINCTS EARLIER THIS MONTH ….

TOMORROW IS THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM FOR THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOUNDATION’S  BALANCING COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE,. WHICH WILL PROVIDE FOUR  TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR MATCHING GRANTS IN THE REGION. ROSEAU IS ONE OF TWELVE COUNTIES IN THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOUNDATION SERVICE AREA.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORATION IS OFFERING SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL GRANTS. LETTERS OF INTENT MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE END OF THE MONTH.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED AN AMENDED MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH UNIVERSITY of MINNESOTA EXTENSION AND  TEAM  ‘EPIC’;  FOR THE TEMPORARY PART-TIME EMPLOYMENT OF KELSEY BERGER WITH  TEAM  ‘EPIC’.  THAT’S THE COUNTY’S  GRANT-FUNDED DRUG FREE COMMUNITIES COALITION.

LAUNCH MINNESOTA IS SEEKING CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURS WITH TECHNOLOGY STARTUPS TO HELP GROW THE STATE’S ECONOMY.    THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AT LAUNCH MINNESOTA IS NEELA MOLLGAARD …. THERE IS SOME INTEREST IN THE PROGRAM IN ROSEAU AND WARROAD.

FIRST UNITED LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU WILL HAND OUT TREAT BAGS AT THE CHURCH ON HALLOWEEN  (5-7 PM).

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL WILL CONTINUE IT’S CURRENT LEARNING PLAN OF HYBRID IN THE HIGH SCHOOL AND IN-PERSON IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL,  DESPITE RAPIDLY RISING NUMBERS OF COVID CASES IN ROSEAU COUNTY …

THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOUNDATION AND THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ARE STARTING THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR AN EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION  WRAP AROUND GRANT PROGRAM, WHICH WOULD HELP FUND SERVICES FOR KIDS FROM BIRTH TO AGE EIGHT FROM UNDER-SERVED POPULATIONS AFFECTED BY THE COVID PANDEMIC.
