THE ROSEAU COUNTY COURTHOUSE WILL AGAIN BE CLOSED,  STARTING TODAY,  AS THE NUMBER OF COVID POSITIVE CASES IN THE COUNTY ESCALATES RAPIDLY.

THERE IS PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE COURTHOUSE,  BUT BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. THE ROSEAU COUNTY COURT ADMINISTRATOR’S OFFICE HAS INFORMATION ON ACCESS TO COURT OPERATIONS. THE COURTHOUSE HAD BEEN CLOSED IN LATE MARCH,  DUE TO THE PANDEMIC;  AND WAS  RE-OPENED SEVERAL MONTHS LATER.

THE OLD FARMERS ALMANAC SAYS A FAIRLY TYPICAL WINTER SEASON IS AHEAD FOR ROSEAU COUNTY. SARAH PERREAULT IS A SENIOR EDITOR FOR THE ANNUAL MAGAZINE,  WHICH STARTED PUBLISHING IN  1792. THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  RENEWED A SEVEN COUNTY JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH THE NORTHWEST WORKFORCE SERVICE AREA.  THE NORTHWEST PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD HAS THREE MEMBERS FROM ROSEAU COUNTY.

THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF CANCELLATIONS OF HIGH SCHOOL SPORTING EVENTS THIS FALL DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, AND SOME SCHOOLS HAVE SHUT DOWN THEIR FALL SPORTS.THE ROSEAU RAMS ARE STILL PLAYING …

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR CORA  FOSS OF ROSEAU,  FOLLOWING MINNESOTA COVID GUIDELINES,  ARE FRIDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   VISITATION IS TWO HOURS PRIOR.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  LAST NIGHT,  APPROVED THEIR  2020 FINANCIAL AUDIT.    TRACEE BRUGGEMAN,  FROM THE BRADY/MARTZ ACCOUNTING FIRM,  SAID THE SCHOOL DISTRICT’S GENERAL FUND BALANCE WAS  3.26 MILLION DOLLARS, AN INCREASE OF ABOUT EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR. THAT’S  32% OF ANNUAL OPERATING EXPENSES,  AND AUDITORS RECOMMEND A SCHOOL DISTRICT HAVE AT LEAST  25% IN RESERVE.

THE NUMBER ONE MOVIE AT THE NATION’S BOX OFFICES LAST WEEKEND WAS THE VINCE VAUGHN HORROR/COMEDY MOVIE CALLED  “FREAKY”. THAT MOVIE IS CURRENTLY PLAYING AT THE ROSO THEATRE.

LIFECARE PUBLIC HEALTH REPORTED ROSEAU COUNTY HAS HAD  764  CONFIRMED CORONAVIRUS CASES SINCE APRIL,  AND NEARLY SIX HUNDRED NEW CASES SINCE THE FIRST OF OCTOBER. PLANNING IS UNDERWAY AT THE STATE,  REGIONAL AND LOCAL LEVELS FOR DISTRIBUTION OF COVID VACCINES  (WHEN THEY BECOME AVAILABLE).   HEALTH CARE AND LONG TERM CARE WORKERS WOULD GET FIRST PRIORITY.
