SECOND HALF TAXES ON ALL REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY EXCLUDING FARM CLASSIFICATIONS AND MOBILE HOMES ARE DUE OCTOBER 15. SECOND HALF TAXES ON THOSE OTHER PROPERTIES ARE DUE NOVEMBER 16.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IS WARNING MOTORISTS TO BE AWARE OF LARGE AND SLOW-MOVING FARM EQUIPMENT DURING THE HARVEST SEASON. IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS,  FOURTEEN PEOPLE HAVE DIED ON MINNESOTA ROADS AS THE RESULT OF A CRASH INVOLVING FARM EQUIPMENT.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SAYS MORE THAN SIX MILLION FEDERAL GRANT  DOLLARS ARE AVAILABLE FOR GREATER MINNESOTA COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOLS TO PAY FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL AND  BIKE AND PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS. THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT LETTERS OF INTENT IS THE END OF THIS MONTH.

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR ROSEAU COUNTY NONPROFITS TO APPLY FOR  “CARES”  ACT FUNDING IS TODAY

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  DEFEATED A PROPOSAL FOR DISTANCE LEARNING EVERY FRIDAY FOR GRADES  K-12. JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS ARE DISTANCE LEARNING NOW ON FRIDAYS,  BUT ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ARE  IN-PERSON ON THE LAST DAY OF THE WEEK. THE  VOTE  WAS  3-3,  MEANING THE MOTION FAILED. SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME SAID  “IN PERSON LEARNING IS THE BEST POSSIBLE SCENARIO”  BUT THE  “CURRENT MODEL AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL IS NOT SUSTAINABLE”  DUE TO TEACHER AND STAFF STRESS LEVELS.

ROSEAU MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI DID NOT FILE FOR RE-ELECTION IN JULY,  AND NOBODY ELSE DID EITHER,  LEAVING THAT SPACE ON THE BALLOT OPEN FOR A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE;  AND CURRENT REPUBLICAN STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAN FABIAN HAS ANNOUNCED HE WILL SEEK THE MAYOR’S CHAIR AS A  WRITE-IN CANDIDATE IN THE NOVEMBER ELECTION.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR CLIFFORD KLAMAR (Clam-uhr) OF GATZKE IS THIS MORNING AT TEN AT ROSE FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH, WEST OF ROSEAU, VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. BURIAL IS AT LANDSTAD CEMETERY AT GATZKE. CLIFFORD KLAMAR WAS 82.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR JORDAN KITTELSON OF WARROAD IS THIS AFTERNOON, AFTER 3 P.M. AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD. JORDAN KITTELSON WAS 27.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MIKE CARLSON OF FARGO (AND FORMERLY OF ROSEAU) ARE TOMORROW MORNING AT ELEVEN AT MOE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU. VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. MIKE CARLSON WAS 49.
