ROSEAU COUNTY HAS JUST OVER TWO MILLION  “CARES”  ACT DOLLARS FOR CORONAVIRUS RELIEF IN THE COUNTY, BUT MUST SPEND THAT FEDERAL MONEY THIS MONTH OR IT REVERTS TO THE STATE OF MINNESOTA.

A  “CARES”  ACT COMMITTEE APPROVED APPROXIMATELY A THIRD OF THAT MONEY GOING TO LOCAL BUSINESSES AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC;  AND THE COUNTY WILL INTERNALIZE ANOTHER MILLION DOLLARS IN ORDER TO KEEP IT LOCALLY.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR TOM FUGLEBERG OF ROSEAU IS THIS AFTERNOON AT ONE  AT THE MOE/ROSE CEMETERY,  WEST OF ROSEAU;  FOLLOWING MINNESOTA COVID GUIDELINES.

TOM  FUGLEBERG WAS  67.

 

A PUBLIC VISITATION FOR IONE  CARLSON OF ROOSEVELT IS THIS EVENING  (5-7 PM)  AT THE UNION CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH IN WARROAD.   A PUBLIC GRAVESIDE SERVICE IS TOMORROW MORNING  (11:15 A.M.)  AT MOUNT CARMEL CEMETERY NORTH OF ROOSEVELT.IONE CARLSON WAS  86.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR JUNE MAGNUSSON OF ROSEAU IS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.  VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.  BOTH FOLLOW STATE COVID-19 GUIDELINES. JUNE  MAGNUSSON WAS  94.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  THIS WEEK,  OFFERED A LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT’S     ROSEAU LAKE PROJECT;  WHICH HAS GENERATED SOME CONTROVERSY AMONG LANDOWNERS AFFECTED BY THE PROJECT.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL HAS APPROVED ANOTHER CHRISTMAS LIGHTING CONTEST,  WITH ROSEAU DOUGH AS PRIZES.

THE UNITED FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF GREENBUSH WILL SERVE A FREE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DAY MEAL FROM 11:00-1:00. THEY’LL HAVE LIMITED DINING SPACE, BUT ALSO OFFER TAKE OUT AND DELIVERY.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  THIS WEEK,   APPROVED LIMITED ACCESS AT THE COURTHOUSE STARTING NEXT TUESDAY  (November 17). THE COURTHOUSE WILL BE LOCKED,  AS WILL THE SOCIAL SERVICES AND HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT BUILDINGS; BUT WILL BE OPEN BY APPOINTMENT.

ALLIED CONCERT SERVICES IS POSTPONING ALL THEIR WINTER AND SPRING TOURS,  WITH A GOAL OF RE-STARTING THOSE CONCERT TOURS IN THE FALL OF  2021. ALLIED PROVIDES ENTERTAINMENT FOR ROSEAU’S NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SERIES,  WHICH HAD ALREADY CANCELLED TWO SHOWS LAST SPRING AND TWO MORE THIS FALL.

ROSEAU POLICE CHIEF WARD ANDERSON TOLD THE CITY COUNCIL LAST WEEK THAT HIS DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN ONE OFFICER SHORT FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS;  THAT THEY’RE STRUGGLING TO FIND PART-TIME POLICE OFFICERS.
