A celebration of life, following MN St. Covid Guidelines, for Mark Brotherston of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and formerly of Badger, MN, will be held 10 AM Saturday, January 2nd at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.

Mark passed away on December 14, 2020 at CHI St. Vincent Hospital of Hot Springs.  He was 58 years old. The last 3 years he battled with cancer and the residual effects from cancer treatments.

Mark Wayne Brotherston was born on April 8, 1962, to Glenn and Gladys (Novak) Brotherston in Rapid City, SD. Mark was raised on a farm in rural Badger, MN.  Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.   He attended Badger Public School, graduating in 1980, he later completed a degree in Computer Science.

He worked at Marvin Windows after high school for a few years then headed north to Alaska, there he worked on a fishing boat and cannery in Valdez, Alaska before coming back home and started work at Polaris Industries.

He later ventured to New Orleans where he was displaced by hurricane Katrina, so he headed north and chose Hot Springs, Arkansas as his new home.

He worked at Oaklawn doing security until he was hired at the Arkansas Passport Center where he worked for 14 yrs. He worked his way up to Assistant Systems Administrator.

In his early years, Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing, hanging with friends and family, playing his guitar, listening to music, and enjoyed movies especially horror films.  Later he come to enjoy porching while having a few beers and anything electronic….he had a remote for everything.

He loved visiting with friends and family, especially his nephews and great nephews when they would come visit.

Mark and Lori Clausen married on June 20,2020 in Hot Springs.

Mark is survived by his wife Lorraine (Lori) Brotherston and step son Cody Tindell of Hot Springs, Arkansas, sister Twila Brotherston and her son Kyle Rarick both of Roseau, MN, sister Tammy (Spencer) Cole of Greenbush, MN and her sons Brandon and Devon Peterson both of Roseau, MN and 2 great nephews Wyatt and Ryden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Gladys and his brother Milo.
